Maybe some body oil would help "lubricate" the area? (and lead to something else? hahaha)

One quick way to get a sliver out is to put the adhesive part of a Band-Aid on it and then pull it off really fast (did that when a nephew got some tree needle or something in hand. after I successfully removed it, he looked at me with wonder! YUP-- Auntie Number 1!)

Yup, those slivers can be a pain. :)

I got one in my upper thigh, while scooting on the opening to the attic. Jerry tried to dig it out, but we had to have the Dr. cut it out. Even got a stitch. LOL, but that we took care of ourselves.

Reminds me of my sister's situation of over 30 years ago. She was sliding down an old wooden slide with one of her young children & apparently picked up a sliver on her rear end. Didn't bother her, so she let it be.

Many months later she felt a large hard growth in her stomach area. She somewhat panicked,thinking she had a tumor. In the end (no pun intended), her doctor removed a fairly large sliver of wood instead of a tumor. It had obviously worked its way back to front. Relief all around.

Ouch! Do get it looked at by a doctor. I have a good friend going in for surgery this month to have the tip of his thumb removed. He got a metal sliver in it which became infected and went right to the bone. We're hoping the rest of the thumb will be OK once the infected part of the bone is removed.
So while it is kinda humorous, please don't let it go unattended!

One nite hubby was walking around the bed,we HAD an antique wooden trunk at the end of the bed,he fell against it ,Somehow he got about a 4" splinter right above the knee.He went to hospital had it removed.some depends how deep you cant pull them out,I wouldnt wait because it will get infected then it will hurt.

Ouch, that makes it hard to sit. Someone may have already mentioned this, but a doctor can put something on the area to deaden the pain when he gets the sliver out. Personally, that's what I would do. And, as others have said, don't wait till it's infected.

That's it. Tree removal will be scheduled today.

Good idea not to slide down banisters till you make sure that they've been sanded.

I can relate....

I've never been on stage...but I once slid across one of our picnic benches. I caught a part of the bench that was drying out and the wood was sticking up a little. The part sticking up was pointy and stuck into my leg. It drove a piece about 4 inches long into my leg. and the end of it where it broke off was about as big as a pencil.

Denny wanted to take me to the ER to have it removed. I said no and made him do it. He had to do a lot of digging...I have a high pain tolerance or I would never have been able to sit there and let him.

That sounds painful! If you haven't already, get your butt to the doctor and get it out. You don't want it to become infected.....

i stepped on a toothpick that was upright in a rug, long story short I pulled on it and only got half so had to go to e.r. No problem they numbed it and just took it out, easy peasy.

My Dad had a funny situation. He was at work, working as a draftsman. He had left a jar of pencils on his chair and accidently sat down on them. One of the points went thru his pants, and went into his butt. Went to the company nurse, who cleaned the wound and applied a bandage. Months later,while bathing, he felt a poking in his elbow, felt something hard inside. Scratched and pulled it out, it was a piece of pencil lead. Somehow it had migrated from his arse to his elbow. Lucky it didn't get to his heart or lung.
