Fell butt first into my zucchini - will they survive? (pics)
Comments (22)Bwahahaha. Evidently, my butt is not SO out of control that the zukes couldn't handle it. They're looking to be just fine, and I even hacked off a 6-incher from the most crushed one today. As we speak, I am eating the fruits of my ass-smashed plants, so...YAY! As far as what I was wearing (lol), I fell in wearing yoga pants, flip flops and a tank top. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you if I got stabbed or not, as the shock from the zucchini butt dive with a 2 1/2 twist was enough to render me totally impervious to pain. /zuke flex...See MoreMy outside plants got their little butts kicked!
Comments (9)We were without power for 21 days in 2004 after Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. My husband lost his saltwater reef tank, all the soft and hard corals and fish he had collected and nurtured, we lost everything in our freezer and fridge. We could stay here during the day, we do have a pool but after the first week it was not able to be used for any human use. We had to stay in a hotel that had power at night. My greenhouse had a foot of water in it but surprisingly I lost no plants, it receded pretty quickly as we drain downhill to a creek in the back of the property. We have vowed to get a generator every year for the last 4 and now we are going to. Thunderstorms here in North Central FL blow up quickly and out of nowhere due to the sea breeze convergence zone that sits right over us. We are in the almost exact center of the state, 45 minutes from each coast, and when east coast and west coast seabreeze meets, we get lots of fireworks. There was a very severe storm here on Friday, it was raining torrentially and I had to go pick up my daughter from summer band at the school...on the way home down our road we almost had to stop and pull over because I couldn't see the road, but then a huge bolt of lightning struck right on the side of the road by the car! We saw where it touched the ground and it made flames for a brief instant. The whole road and the car shook, and the crack of noise was deafening. My ears were ringing. AFter that I was scared to pull over in case a tree fell or something. We found out the next day that a local park ranger in a nature preserve area called Paynes Prairie was killed when a tree blew onto their car during that storm. These summer storms are nothing to fool with no matter what state you live in, and they are almost impossible to predict sometimes. Just glad you are safe and have power back!...See Moreknitting lace is kicking my butt lol!
Comments (8)Thank you Miss Enabler Donna! Your shawl was what pushed me over the edge lol! What I had so many problems with was example: odd rows sl1,p1 then 14 stitches of the chart k1 even rows sl1, then 14 stitches of the chart k2 I didn't understand that even though she stated the instructions for the even row they were to be knitted in the reverse. I started over so many times my yarn should have been frayed lol! Luckily, we were getting a lot of rain so I could let my yard work go! The reviews state the finished project does not look like the authors (Iknow mine won't lol) and after I get the pattern right I want to increase it to a shawl. I'm in awe of the knitters that can look at the chart and work the even rows. I had to write all of mine out and I STILL make mistakes. Comments (23)e4849: The "counter" in the upper right is actually a placeholder for a desk and it's one area that we're not really sure what it will become. We'll have a guest room that will be an office for us, so I don't think a desk off the kitchen area will get much use. However (not shown on the plan), we are having our cabinet maker add shelving as a base for an antique map chest and that will go beside the desk. The door to the right of that leads out to the deck/hot tub. The closet is a broom closet. The mudroom IS large but we live in Montana during the winter, with lots of ski gear, coats, boots and guests so we feel we need the hooks and bench in the outer mudroom (the one that's labeled), and the coat closet that's in the unlabeled room. There will be additional hooks and something to sit on in that room also. We wanted a fairly large laundry area that has a long work counter for crafts and fly-tying. My list of appliance usage is identical to yours for the first 4 items. 5. Cooktop - daily 6. Pantry - daily (several times per day since it's for both food and lesser-used dishes) 7. Oven - 1 or 2 times per week I really like the idea of moving the DW to the other side of the sink to spread out some of the activity. I am amazed at how clearly you've identified the traffic issues and come up with a simple solution! It's an easy fix since the cabinets haven't been started. Judydel: I'm so glad to hear that you're happy with the GE single/double oven! I'm still a bit uneasy about jumping into it but when I think about why I'm hesitant it's because of resale, not because I think we'd be unhappy with it. And after decades of doing it, I'm tired of making decisions based on guessing what other people might want! Assuming the oven still works if we ever sell this house and it's a sticking point for buyers, I'll deal with it then. I'm pretty sure the size will work for us. And I just have to add, yours is a mighty clean oven - I hope mine will be so picture perfect! Montana...See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
