Just wondering whats good out there to rent?

I am thinking about renting a couple movies this week and I have no clue whats good.

The best thing I've seen lately was a documentary about Evelyn
Cameron, a pioneer era photographer in Montana at the turn of the century. It's on DVD, but I saw it on PBS. I am going to buy the dvd...would love to see it again.

I love Netflix too! I think it's one of the most well run companies on the 'net, and their website is simple and easy to navigate. Be sure to check out the free movies you can watch instantly on your computer. You can stop and go back to them later. It's wonderful. I've enjoyed these recently (some are instant). Here are some I've watched recently: Enchanted - a very cute movie Atonement - I enjoyed it, watched it with 3 other people and they all thought it was too slow Bee Movie - cute Into the Wild - excellent The Brave One - different than what I was expecting from watching the trailer, but it was very good Dan in Real Life - very good! Watched it on the plane and now wishing I had watched it on a big screen Death at a Funeral - British comedy, hilarious!! Becoming Jane - very nice, a chick flick I guess Feast of Love - a bit slow moving but good, Morgan Freeman is in it and I always like him Rendition - pretty good We Own the Night - good, a bit of violence Martian Child - very sweet No Reservations - chick flick, sweet though, rated G I believe

I started reading "The Spire," by Richard North Patterson, but gave up on it. It was my first book by him, and I found it boring. Now I'm reading "The Two-Minute Rule," by Robert Crais. I like Crais a lot, and this book has many fans. So I'm persevering, but I must say the book hasn't grabbed me yet. I don't watch many movies, but I was sick this week. In addition to lots of episodes of Gilmore Girls and The Closer on DVD, I watched the movie "Enchanted." I thought it was charming.

I don't see many movies, and have been pondering if there are any that I would watch again or have watched again. A few came to mind: Yankee Doodle Dandy (James Cagney) Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version) A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version) Various other movies from the 1930s & 1940s, when I had access to TCM and AMC, and when both showed mostly movies (Cagney, Marx Brothers, Bob Hope, Crosby - if enough years have passed since the last time I saw them) Battleground Moonstruck Out of Africa Master and Commander (just recently) When my DD was an early teen, she loved a movie called "Wish Upon a Star" with a young Katherine Heigl. She watched it multiple times so inadvertently I did also. Should I count the things that she watched over and over as a toddler? The TV production of Peter Pan with Mary Martin was watched daily for over a month - she learned all the moves to the dance with Tiger Lily.

I pick movies up from the library and have been pleasantly pleased with several.

In no particular order, I just adored these movies.

Freedom Writers
My Louisiana Sky (just wonderful)
Anita and Me (quite enjoyable, and even though it was in english, i used the CC - LOL)
Evelyn (based on a heartwarming true story)
Million Dollar Baby
Ella Enchanted

I rented "The Kite Runner." It was as fantastic as the movie! Evoked all the same emotions, the beauty of the story was not just maintained, it was honored. The music fit the mood and the setting wonderfully. The actors were great. You do have to read most of, subtitles for everything set in Afghanistan or Pakistan, which is about 75-80%. I will probably buy it eventually so I can enjoy it over and over. I might even buy it for my mother for Mother's Day (I know she liked the book). It was just... WOW!

Next time I get a day to myself, I'll rent "Atonement."
