Just wondering whats good out there to rent?

I am thinking about renting a couple movies this week and I have no clue whats good.

The best thing I've seen lately was a documentary about Evelyn
Cameron, a pioneer era photographer in Montana at the turn of the century. It's on DVD, but I saw it on PBS. I am going to buy the dvd...would love to see it again.

We went to see a few action movies lately...the second Pirates of the Carribean and Miami Vice. Both very very good. My girlfriend and I went out the other day and went to You, Me and Dupree. Not as good. Funny, silly and stupid but lighthearted and we enjoyed it. Today (Aug 6) was the first year wedding anniversary for my daughter and her husband. Since it is their 'paper' anniversary when we went to the movies I bought 2 extra tickets and presented them with those pieces of paper when they came into the theatre. We went to a 'chick flick', John Tucker Must Die. A silly, teenage girl movie. We thought it was definitely for teenage girls. But we (my DH and I and the anniversary couple) enjoyed it. I love Netflix too! I think it's one of the most well run companies on the 'net, and their website is simple and easy to navigate. Be sure to check out the free movies you can watch instantly on your computer. You can stop and go back to them later. It's wonderful. I've enjoyed these recently (some are instant). bengardening, I didn't realize it was titled Deathrace 2000 but that makes sense since it was suppose to be in the future. Duh. They used to show it on TV once in awhile but haven't seen it in a long time. Who was the lead actor in that movie, I keep thinking it was Peter Fonda. Oh I just thought of some other movies: anything with Will Ferrell! and his new one Land of The Lost was horrible, why I thought it would be any different I don't know. Wasted $3.99 to watch it On Demand -turned it off after only 30min. Now it's showing on the HBO channels for free.

Recent threads for good movie suggestions...... What are some good movies Ollld Movies Watching Movies Today Emergency backup movie stash Really great suggestions in all those. I finally saw Mr. Brooks and loved it. Want to see Perfect Strangers and a bunch of others that were suggested. I've been tuned in to TCM and AMC lately. I pick movies up from the library and have been pleasantly pleased with several.

In no particular order, I just adored these movies.

Freedom Writers
My Louisiana Sky (just wonderful)
Anita and Me (quite enjoyable, and even though it was in english, i used the CC - LOL)
Evelyn (based on a heartwarming true story)
Million Dollar Baby
Ella Enchanted

I rented "The Kite Runner." It was as fantastic as the movie! Evoked all the same emotions, the beauty of the story was not just maintained, it was honored. The music fit the mood and the setting wonderfully. The actors were great. You do have to read most of, subtitles for everything set in Afghanistan or Pakistan, which is about 75-80%. I will probably buy it eventually so I can enjoy it over and over. I might even buy it for my mother for Mother's Day (I know she liked the book). It was just... WOW!

Next time I get a day to myself, I'll rent "Atonement."
