Any Good Movies?
Comments (46)I watched Hannibal Rising the other night, by myself. I quite enjoyed it and thought that it finally explained alot. I loved the reference to Melville, SK. at the end. We've got friends that were raised in Melville. I've never been there but I thought it was a prairie town - not a town surrounded by forest? Is this a big movie "oops"? Has anyone seen Beowulf? I want to go to see it in the IMAX theatre. But, I think I just want to see the IMAX effects. Not sure if it's the actual movie that I want to see. Comments (13)first off i must say, i LOVE my tivo, couldn't imagine living without it. for movie rentals though, i use my digital cable service with the "on demand" movies. it costs 3.99 for a movie and the movie can be watched any time in a 24 hour period. (this works out well if i order a movie at night when my husband is at work and he can watch it the next day while i'm at work). the digital cable service is a bit pricey at 75.00 a month, but that gives me digital cable in the bedroom with regular cable all over the house. i figure i'm probably making out on the plus side because i'm no longer paying continual late fees on the dvd's that never seem to make it back to the video store on time. my digital cable box has the built in dvr but it's garbage. i much prefer my good old tivo that we've had for 4 years now in our family room. the only problem with tivo and cable is that the tivo and the cable box have problems communicating for channel changes so i wouldn't recommend using the tivo with a cable box. it works great for cable running directly into the television though. i've thought about using netflix, but i was wondering how much control you have over the movies you get. from what i know about netflix, you have a "want to see" list and they choose for you what comes to you when you return a movie. i could see myself still using the "on demand" movies or the video rental store if i really had an urge to see a specific movie....See MoreHave you watched any good movies lately?
Comments (5)I rented "The Kite Runner." It was as fantastic as the movie! Evoked all the same emotions, the beauty of the story was not just maintained, it was honored. The music fit the mood and the setting wonderfully. The actors were great. You do have to read most of, subtitles for everything set in Afghanistan or Pakistan, which is about 75-80%. I will probably buy it eventually so I can enjoy it over and over. I might even buy it for my mother for Mother's Day (I know she liked the book). It was just... WOW! Next time I get a day to myself, I'll rent "Atonement."...See MoreNetflix movie recommendation
Comments (8)I watched it this weekend, too. Thought it was pretty good. Not great, but enjoyable enough. Then I saw advertised an original Amazon series called Red Oaks, with the kid from the movie as the lead, so I watched that. It was fun because it was set in the 80's, so the music was from my era, but otherwise "meh.". (I'm watching while I sew, so I'm going through a lot of viewing material lately.)...See More- 10 years ago
