Murphy's Law of Irons

My one year old Rowenta stopped giving a burst of steam, this after it started leaking even more than usual. I self-cleaned it several times, and then self-cleaned it with vinegar water, all to no avail. Then I tried straight vinegar, still no luck so I gave up and walked away.

I bought a Shark brand from Wal-Mart, which I choose primarily because it had pretty, shiny chrome. There were no irons without auto-off!

I got home to my Rowenta, had left it on with straight vinegar sitting inside. I gave it one more disgusted shot of steam before replacing it...and of course....it works. It steams now with the sound of a jet engine revving in the distance. A frightening amount of steam, better than when it was new...and for the FIRST time ever, it doesn't drip.

And people say an iron isn't actually alive! Can't pout! Can't get scared of the garbage can!
