I can't help you with the Majestic Plum, but I chose a fairly new color in which I couldn't find hardly any pictures of. I was really heading toward Tropical Breeze. I saw one in person and didn't really think it was for me. Instead, I fell in love with Blue Lagoon. I was very worried because I didn't get to see any pools with it. The job foreman told me that he thinks if more people saw it in person, that they would pick it. It turned out just like I invisioned. I love it. I certainly wish you luck. It was a leap of faith for me and I hope your choice pleases you as well as mine did for me.

natural_one is a pool builder that posts here regularly and IIRC he's done a couple pools using Bordeaux. His post sticks in my mind because I remember seeing a large sample of it months ago and thought it was quite pretty, then recently he said something to the effect that it *IS* beautiful and should be selected more often. But like you, I was afraid that hardly anyone uses it and I'm a big chicken.

Post to him and maybe he'll post some pics. I'd love to see some, too, other than the one (or two?) that are on the PebbleTec site.

We went to a pool that had it, and in the deep end, it is very light grayish (not dark at all), and in the shallow areas, the plum color stood out along with the light grey.
We did not like it. We did not want the plum color, nor the grey. So we are going with carribean blue. It has more of a blue color as opposed to the grey.
You really need to look at existing pools to really see what colors are what. But the majestic plum DOES NOT produce a dark water.

I had seen pictures of the Majestic plum and thought the pool looked kind of green to me in the deeper ends. Its similar to the Sandy Beach shallow. To me its like a darker version of Sandy beach which can also make the water look greenish in the deep parts with moderate light. These colors, to me, tend to look good shallow but they don't look as good deep and sometimes people get let down once they fill their pool from what I keep reading. So I would definetly try and go see one live.

ncrealestateguy mentioned the A&S website...i can only find one website online for an A & S pools, and they don't have any pool photos/gallery. does anyone know the website? please post the web address, i am new here and not familiar with A & S.

ncrealestateguy: the pool you saw with majestic plum, was it in full sun or in partial shade...wondering if that could affect how the plum "pops"?

and , i went to see the Majestic Plum pool today and it looked amazing...VERY different than the other colors I have seen...and a pretty deep color. In the shadows the water was showing a deep bluish-teal, not overly green like sandy beach, in the sun it was a medium teal. The only thing I am worrying about is that my pool gets serious sun most of the day, so wondering how full sun would affect the color. Anyway, it did NOT look purple or plum, for those who wonder about the plaster color.

It will only look slightly purpleish in very shallow water...like on a baja shelf or beach entry....but no not very much or as much as you might think at anything more than 8 inches.

A lot of people don't like teal....they call it greenish and want to avoid it. Its all personal taste. The sandy beach is definetly more greenish than teal though because its lighter. I think the brighter the sun the more greenish it gets. Look at one "straight" down if you can at high noon.... If you like it then, you probably will always like it.

Here are some pics of my Majestic Plum Pool. These are right after fill & prior to landscaping, etc. I have more pics at home so I will try to post more later. I love the color - it is scary when they are applying it because the plaster is REALLY purple, but after the spray off and acid wash, you really only see the stones and just a touch of purple in corners and around edges of tile. I think the color is a deep teal - not really green, but not exactly blue either.

Wow, I think these photos are great, and they really do confirm what I saw today...that this is a pretty deep color, especially in shade. can't-wait-to-swim, I would love to see some of your other photos, especially ones in sunlight (my pool is in sun most of the day) and with moving water. I sent you an email, or you could post them here, so everyone could check them out.

When I compared side-by-side photos of the Tahoe Blue pool and the Majestic Plum pool I saw in person this afternoon, the clear difference was that the Tahoe blue water has a greener tint, and the Majestic Plum is a cooler tone, a little "icy" looking, if that makes sense. Let me see if I can figure out how to post photos here, and I'll show them side by side.
These 2 colors are really close...PebbleTec corporate told my pool company is is basically Tahoe, with a grayer water tone. Dead on.

cant wait to swim...please tell me what coping you used! That is what I'm trying to find but I am having a hard time finding pictures of it! Thanks so much!!

gina171... the web site is Anthony & Sylvan pools. Just google the name and you will find them. The pool I saw was in full sun, and what you said in your last post makes sense. It looks like tahoe, but grayer, and a little plum color in the shallows (on the steps, under the tile, and on tanning shelfs. It was just too gray for us, and out house has plum in some of the stone, and we did not want to highlight it at all.
If you like the look, that is all that matters.

in response to lmhall2000, my coping is poured-in-place concrete. Just regular gray concrete color. Pool builder built up forms using wood and styrofoam around the perimeter of the pool and hand mixed concrete and poured it in. I think I have some pictures of the process at home (I'm at work now - sssshhhhh, don't tell anyone) and I'll try to post them in this thread later.

I would love to see pics of it in the sun. Your pool is beautiful.

I love the look of the poured/formed concrete edge...the builders here say it won't hold up, I don't know if they just don't have subs skilled enough to do it, or want to mess with buying the forms...it's really what I want, maybe I should press them on it...brick coping over time just never looks good to me....
