Whatever the first one is, that's my pick. I'd never get tired of looking at that granite - beautiful!

Well I recently posted about going bonkers picking granite so I'm extremely jealous that you've narrowed it down to just two. Although I can't make a decision for my own kitchen I'm going to weigh in on yours. I just love that first one. It sorta looks like sand art and is just beautiful and seems soothing and definitely beachy. Good luck.

I like the first one the best! It looks like a sandy beach being swirled by the tide. The second looks sort of washed out.

Hi gaylemh, my vote is for the first one, Juperana Columbo, too. It is different and beautiful. You can also pick up the bluish-grey color of the swirls on the kitchen walls and or tile backsplash.

The first one is my favorite too. Through out this whole remodel, I have second guessed every thing I picked out.

How did your installation go today? Are the seams they did OK? The columbo granite is the one at American that I'm trying to decide about.

Did you get your sink from them or buy your own? They told me they would give me an 18 gauge D sink for $200.00 extra. I'm thinking of going with a Tricor.

The granite in the picture does look a little blue, but the granite itself is actually shades of grey, fron very light to almost black, there is no blue in the granite. One of my concerns is how it will look with all the SS appiances. It's a very small u-shaped kitchen. (8 X 8)

I love the movement in the Columbo. Would it be possible to find some for my klitchen?

The Juperana is fabulous. I love the colors (reminds me of Yellow River a bit), the movement, everything about it!

one more vote for the first one! It's so different. Although the second is beautiful, too.

What colours are your appliances? I think that the granite would match up well w stainless as well as white (or even better, bisque).

First one, first one!! Did you say you're having SS appliances? Think it will tie in GREAT with that blueish/gray. Very perfect for a beach house!!

The installation went great!. I only have 1 seam and is in the middle of the sink. Very unnoticeable. I love my granite color. I'll post pictures later, I'm cleaning up because my stove arrives today and my DH just finished installing the faucett and soap dispenser. They gave me an undermount double SS sink; 7" deep on the left and 9" deep on the right.
As for your granite slab, will look great in your U-shaped kitchen. I will then do some kind of tile backsplash that has the other color I see on the granite like the beige with a tint of peach in a subway or brick very simple so the attention is on the granite. What are you doing in terms of lights? I'm afraid the one you have right now will give you a yellow glow. It is just an opinion and of course it all depends on the budget. :)

I also love the Juparana Colombo, but I have a question about seam matching in a U shaped kitchen. With all the linear movement in the Colombo how will the granite change direction? If there is only one seam at the sink then the problem will be not too apparent. However if there have to be seams when the granite turns a corner in the U there will be seam matching problems. It will be interesting to see how the fabricator solves this problem. Also will you have a full height backsplash of granite or will you do tile?

The fabricator told me he would cut the granite in one piece and then split it in the middle at the sink, so the
seam would match at the sink. The kitchen is only 99" wide,
he said he might be able to do it in one piece, but would probably have to cut at the sink, so it wouldn't crack in transport.

Glad everything went well with your install. I'm going to two more granite places today. If I don't see anything I like better, I will go back to Carlos tomorrow and get the Columbo. (I'm the type of person that needs to see what's out there before I make my final decision.

Everything is gone in the kitchen including the horrible lights. I'm having recessed lights put in.

I did the same thing!. I knew I wanted Carlos to be my fabricator but I went to like 4 different distributors of granite to look at slabs before I could finally settled on the one I got. I originally had picked a Kashmir gold slab at American Granite but I still kept looking. I told my husband that Carlos and Rebecca must be tired of me, but they understood that I wanted to see as many as possible before I made my final decision. Just let Carlos know that you are interested in the Juparana Columbo granite slab so you won't loose it. They are good at that and since they are small, they remember those kind of details. When someone else wanted the kasmir gold, they asked me if I was still interesred in them because another person wanted them so I told them go ahead given them to the other person because I had finally decided on the Ivory Fantasy. Where is this Carlos located?

I was out granite hunting again today. I found this one, I forgot to ask what is was called. It's a darker grey and has more peach in it, but I thought it was pretty.
I am going to order tomorrow, and now I need to decide between this and the Juperana Coloumbo.

On my monitor the second selection is not as good with the floor tile as the Juparana Colombo. Perhaps there are too many waves going on between the slab and the granite in both selections?

my vote is still for the Juparana Colombo.

I also vote for the Juparana Colombo. I think the colors and swirls are more beachy. The new, darker one is my second choice and the Ivory Fantasy my third. They would all look great though.

Still the first one...sandy mixed with grayish/beachy blue...perfect! (the new stone looks similar, but I like the more large-scale, flowing aspect to the first one...more relaxing to my eye!)

I like the Juparana the best but I also really like the last one you found. I'd be concerned about using a granite with such large movement in your small space, though, which wouldn't happen with the new, darker one. This would be easy to see if you can go back to the original yard and draw the countertop shape onto the Jurapana to see how much of the big swirls you lose. If it's done in one piece, it looks like one side of the kitchen will be very swirly and the other much quieter. That may be fine, but I'd want to see it outlined first (I have a hard time doing these things in my head). You could even print the picture of the full slab and draw your counter onto it to see how it would look. Both granites are very beautiful and look like they were made to go with your floor and cabinets.

I ordered the Juparana Columbo today. I think I will be able to balance the swirls somewhat by cutting for the long sink wall from the bottom and going up for the 50" sides. All the other slabs I saw at other yards, had very wide (about 12")dark orange to burgandy swirls going through the middle.

When I saw the second darker one again, it was just too busy and dark.

I hope I made the right decision, I went to 6 different places and couldn't find anything I liked better than my first choice.

Carlos said he would include the 18 gauge sink, I looked it up online and it's only a $95.00 sink. (Made by Alpha) How is the one he gave you? Is it quite ? Does it have soundproofing?

I'm still thinking of getting the Tricor sink instead. It would only be about 120.00 more, because Carlos is charging $50.00 more for the grid. Maybe he would take off a couple of bucks if I don't take his sink.

I love your first one. It has soft movement while the last one you just discovered has a very busy movement and I think I'd get tired of it.

I can't wait to see your counter in place. I love your choice.

I actually love them both. I happen to go for wavy granite. The first will offer you more "pop". Either one is a terrific choice with your cabinet and flooring.
