love the deer brown ... great kitchen layout.

I don't feel qualified to put in my two cents, since I have the exact same question posted. But... I like the giallo ornamental. Is that your cabinetry and floor woodwork with it? It looks very warm and pretty together. The Deer brown looked grey to me, but now that I re-read your post, if the cabinets are white, maybe that would be a nice combo.

They both work REALLY well with your cabinet and floor choices. You can't go wrong either way. I guess it depends on what colors you're seeing in the overall space and which would go better.

That said, I love the deer brown...

To me, the Giallo is warmer, and the Deer Brown is cooler. Personally, I like warmth in a kitchen, so I would go with the Giallo!

Originally it was the Giallo, but then when we went to see the slabs Deer Brown came into the picture. So hard to envision how it will all look when the kitchen has yet to be built!

What's the natural lighting like? That will affect how cool the Deer Brown or how warm the GO looks.

The Giallo Ornamental looks nice with the paint color, but I think it enhances the yellowness of the creamy white paint. Keep in mind that the paint color will yellow even more with time. I agree with others that the amount of natural light in the room will be a significant factor.

hmm...good point about the lighting. Well, the kitchen window above the sink is only 3x3.
But the kitchen opens to our breakfast nook which is a nook full of huge windows and our family room which has big sliding doors.
So, not a huge amount of DIRECT natural light, but a bright space in general which gets the morning light.
I don't want the deer brown to be too cool looking. But I like the contrast with the white cabinets.

Bumping for any more opinions...
I know it's up to us and the look we want, but with building the entire house my brain is totally fried from too much decision making!
I do like warmth in the kitchen, but I don't know if the giallo is 'bold' enough. Although I should add our island will be stained a really dark brown.

I am not skilled enough to help with the granite selection but I was wondering if you would mind posting some more views of your plans. I really love it and it is very similar to the direction I am heading. Thanks.

Deer brown is my pick - mostly because it is less common. Be different.

I think you should visit more slab yards-you'll probably find something with more movement or color variation that will stand out well against both cabinet and floor colors without being too dark overall.

I really like the Deer Brown with that wonderful wood tone. And I agree--it's different. Giallo Ornamental is pretty common, and I think it's nice, but may be dated sooner than the Deer Brown color.

I like the Giallo Ornamental. You kitchen layout is VERY similar to mine. Do have any pics yet? I can't tell from the layout what are the dimensions?
