New Pool Owner Two weeks into Clearing up GREEN Pool

We recently moved into a new house with a 20,000 gal pool. The pool was opened but left untreated for a week prior to us moving in and it's possible lake water was added to "top it off" after opening.

I've been battling the green pool for 2-3 weeks now. We are making progress but I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for me.

I started with a bottle of algecide and twice daily shocks using first powdered shock and then switching to liquid after a few days. The last few days I've been adding algecide daily.

We have a sand filter. I've been backwashing 1-3 times a day and trying to stir up the pool once a day.

Today I tried some "sparkle up" in a throwing everything and the kitchen sink method. Not sure if it's doing anything.

My ph is on the low side I've been using borax to raise it up when needed. The total chlorine is out of world high and the free chlorine is so low it won't register on a test strip.

Any help from veteran owners would be appreciated.

Thanks!
