water line tile color

I didn't realize it would be so hard selecting a color! Can anyone recommend? We are using oklahoma field stone for the coping and our pool finish will be french gray hydrazzo.

I would prefer a color that will blend nicely with our coping and low weeping wall (using the same stone). We currently have the sample peacock aztec. I can't remember the brand.

Something that really helped me was making the waterline tile in the same family of color as the plaster finish. My plaster will be blue so I chose a blue tile. Not the only way to do it, but it made my decision easier, and it looks great.

Thanks, gawebber. I do have a blue sample but I'm so afraid it will clash with our french gray hydrazzo. I'm still researching. From reading various threads here, most people are using pebble tec or something equivalent. Our pool builder swears up and down that it will be too rough for the kids.

The coping is a custom poured concrete form with bull nose. Davis concrete color of Sandstone. The coping took 6 weeks to get. One of the project delays. The reason for the custom coping is for the inground concrete vault at the south end for the automatic pool cover (you can see the forms set up in the photo) which is also a custom size for my pool. Tomorrow is concrete day for my pool deck - hope I don't get stood up again. :(

Pebble Tec now makes a waterline tile that "matches" their PT gravels. Ask the PB to show you samples. It looks very understated and nice. I don't like tile that screams "look at me". I like ones that blend in. But it's personal preference. I checked out about 4 pool books from my local library just to look at tile! LOL. Going to a sample show room will really help too since things in reality usually look very different then on paper. Katherine

The replacement part is about $10.00 I think. I used about $15.00 in parts for the fix and about a half hour of time. Saved me a good half day or full day of lost time so I think the band aid repair was worth the effort. I'm glad it worked and glad it will maybe save someone else out down the road. I'm sure a chubby Slurpee Straw might work as well or any hard flexible plastic and some duct tape.

I think it's too rough, but that's just me. We're leaning toward DiamondBrite or Durazzo.
