This time it was my kitchen table, but it was a much bigger job, he felt he needed his power tools this time. As you can see, he's quite proud of his work.

Hmm, I actually was talking with the guy as he disassembled it to see what was wrong. Within a few minutes he had gone through the saw, set the RPM's using an RPM guage, then we tested it. After 3 cuts, it started revving really high then gradually idled down. Once the saw was disassembled again, the "manifold" had cracked completely in two pieces. My thought is due to the years of use coupled with the fact that its a plastic part. So, I figure I've got maybe 20 bucks labor in it as well as a 10 dollar part. I can take that a lot easier than the 300 plus I was going to spend on a new saw. I went ahead and had him replace the clutch cover because the chain tensioner had worn through the side of it. So, for less than 50 bucks my saw will be good to go for probably 3-5 more years. If I continue to have problems with it (if this is the beginning of the end), I'll bite the bullet and buy a new Stihl. But, for now my homeowners saw should be good to go by this weekend. Comments?

Electrolux refrigerator ice maker - has the problem been fixed?

Ok, we bought our wave touch french door fridge on may 2010. Nothing but problems!!! First it made ice, but not consistently. It would sometimes make a batch and then just stop. you would have to turn the ice maker off and then back on (almost like resetting it?)... Then we also had issues with the LED's in the wave touch panel burning out (twice). Problem is you cant just replace the bulb. Good thing its still under warranty because they have to replace the whole wave touch panel. Then in April of 2011 the ice maker quit working completely. We had service people come out 5 times until they figured out the problem. The way these ice makers make ice, is there is a bunch of small steel cylinders in which water surrounds them. Once ice has formed the unit then heats up the small steel cylinders and the ice melts and falls off them into the tray. Well the heater broke and so ice was made but could not release into tray. Waited on parts from april till the end of july. In which I wrote Electrolux head office an email stating all the issues. I will say the customer service from electrolux was great, they replaced our fridge with a brand new one. We recieved our new electrolux wave touch fridge. And it looks like they changed the ice maker up. It no longer uses the steel cylinders to make ice. It looks more like the regular way fridges make ice now.. I have only had it for about 6 hours now, so I will update after we have had it for a few months to review again. Hope this heps.

I love it! You don't need everything in your kitchen to be a star. Subtle is good. I think the granite is very pretty and once you put your cooktop in, it will take away that big contrast area as well as draw your eye away from the seam. I was really unhappy about them putting a seam right in front of my sink because to me it was such a visible area. But now it is such a non issue that I just ran in to the kitchen to see if it is actually there. One thing I did learn in decorating: underwhelmed is better than overwhelmed. I bought a real fancy backsplash with the help of a friend and the store "decorator". Brought home a few pieces of it for a mock up and hated it. I ended up with plain old cheap subway tile and love it. It is the perfect backdrop for my "stuff", and I have more flexibility in other things - wall color, towels, appliances, etc. Your kitchen is beautiful, enjoy it. .

Too Cute! Does he have his own tool belt Steph? I bought my Great Nephew a real leather one (kid size) and he just loves it. He carries all his own tools around just in case something needs a repair!
Grant is so photogenic! I love his smile. It is contagious.

He doesn't have a tool belt yet. I think it would probably bug him right now. He doesn't like things on his body, not even a blanket. It's funny. But when he's older, I think he would like one.

Steph, does Grant watch your husband while he's working? He seems to be imitating very well. Maybe he'll follow in his daddy's footsteps. My most adorable pictures of my own son were of him 'building' stuff in the basement. And he -did- become a carpenter.
