It is amazing what your kids remember from their childhoods....things that seem so insignificant at the time.

Along with doing water aerobics, for eleven years, I should have been using the machines at the gym.

Just started using the machines June or July of last year.

Better late than never

That being shy for most of my life prevented me from having a lot of fun. Once I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, I started having more fun than I'd ever had.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and learned how to paint at the age of 70. I love it, I could paint all day if I didn't have to cook, clean, do laundry, take care of my husband etc. I am sorry I waited so long because I probably won't get to paint all I want to before I leave this earth. If there is something you would lke to do, do it now. Time waits for no man. Vique.

Susan, you took the words right out of my mouth! Not only am I no longer shy/quiet, I am VERY outspoken, loud, and have lots of opinions! :)

I started playing golf last year, and wish I had taken it up years ago. I always walk so I get exercise, and I absolutly love it. I wish I realized years ago that I could play this game, and not be intimidated by all those men with their saddle-shoe golf shoes and expensive clubs.

I would have purchased microsoft stock in the '80s. An extra million or two right about now would be cool!

I know now that the only person I can change is myself. Also, if someone has a habit or trait that sorta bugs you before marriage, it'll drive you bonkers AFTER you're married. I finally learned those things after two failed marriages.

vicki7, after my divorce, I came "out". Meaning out of my shell and became ME!

I was shy as a child and decided it made life less interesting. People laugh when I tell them that basically I am a shy person. I guess I succeeded!!!!

As my daughter was pregnant and had her two children these past 4 years, I learned that so much of what I learned when I had my 3 children is now absolutely out of date. She cannot believe how we were encouraged to have a glass of wine, or better yet beer, every day. I ate fish and cheese and some women who smoked did not even cut back during their pregnancies. I tell her how I made myself drink a glass of wine every day just because they said it was good to do. I made wine coolers as I am not much of a drinker.

I've learned that you need to be true to yourself at all times ... and not change what/how you do things because someone else doesn't approve.

You should follow your dreams/intuition and not let other people influence (or make) your decisions for you.

I've learned that not everyone I meet is gonna like me and it's taken me 54 years to become ok with that..I like me and that's really all that counts...I'm true to myself...

I do better alone than as a couple. To late to learn that. LOL! Men tend to hold me back.

To name just one:
I learned that walking on eggshells doesn't work with those with personality disorders...... so you might just as well bust the eggs early on.....

Gosh, I wish I had the wisdom of a 60 year old when I was a teen/young woman!

Don't wear lip gloss when you are going to get your hair cut!

Wish I had overcome my shyness at a younger age. I missed out on a lot. Alex is just like me and his father. Lauren is much more outgoing and has lots of friends. I'm so glad. She is still shy around people she doesn't know but she's not afraid of looking goofy in front of people. She will sing and dance in public-Oh my! lol.

As beeohio said, don't walk on eggshells;
"bust the eggs early on".

Once you start, you'll be tippytoing around til you die...

If I'd known then what I know now, I'd have

taken Latin in high school;
can't remember any of the French I took anyway,
& Latin is so entwined in so many languages
& has so many applications in gardening & medicine & such.

gone on to college no matter how difficult.
I came from a messed-up disfunctional family & escaped to the "freedom" of working at an insurance company;
had I but known, I'd have severed contact with my family & lived in a hole in the wall for 4 years if necessary.

not married my ex;
seemed like everybody else was getting married, & my life was going nowhere (working for the insurance comapny, duh), but it cost me 5 years of working 24 hours a day & being treated badly for my trouble.

traveled while I was younger.
My friend Chris used to decide, at the drop of a hat, to, for instance, head off to Washington State in her ancient VW bus;
maybe she read that there was an environmental group going out there to observe the migration of the whales.
Off she'd go.

I always worried too much.
How much would it cost?
What could go wrong?

As that little saying goes, I'd have worried less & done more, eaten fewer beans & more ice cream!
