Pool Builder in Katy Texas

I am looking for a reputable pool builder in Katy Texas (we live in Grand Lakes subdivision). We have started getting bids... currently looking at Quest Pools (located in Katy) and Custom Pool & Spa Concepts (located in Richmond0. Anyone know anything about these two builders?

We also had Sunset Pools come out but the sales rep never called us back --- same thing happened to one of my friends.

Kelly (aka Huskyridor) from Atlantis --- who can you recommend in the Katy/Richmond area?

Don't know Quest. Troy is a good guy over at Pool & Spa. He builds a good pool I have seen many of them. PM me if you need any additional info.

Thanks for the info. My husband and I like Troy and also liked his drawings --- very detailed. Any additional information you can give me about his company would be great. Also, do you have any thoughts regarding salt vs chlorine? We want to do a moss rock waterfall but have been told about how a salt water pool will cause the rocks and certain coping to discolor and pit. We have also heard about using a sealer. Just curious -- are you a pool builder here in Houston?

We have selected a builder and waiting for the homeowners association approval. We thought we'd have it by Friday but haven't received it yet. The utilities were marked but for some reason the electrical company didn't physically mark the line location but stated we were "all clear". We want it marked to be on the safe side so they are supposed to come back out and mark the lines location. Prices varied a lot for same exact pool. Despite what some of the pool builders on here say some builders are just price gouging only because they can right now. They are all busy, at least they say they are extremely busy, though all could start on it once we got approval and lines marked. All but one stated they were the best and they did things differently though not one of them really gave me anything specific that separated them from the other builders. I know that not all pool builders are the same but I didn't interview just any pool builder I could find. Fact is the "pool builders" don't build any aspect of the pool. It's all sub contracted out and of course their sub contractors are the best, all but one told me the same thing. One guy stated most every respectable pool builder builds a pool to the same specs which is what I found to be true. As far as how many to interview and get quotes from, personally I'd say at least four. We have several pools being built in out neighborhood and no one I've spoken to got less than four quotes. Just don't tell the pool builder that as it appears some think its a waste of "their" time. It's our money so I'm going to do what I think is best for me and my financial benefit. Plus they all have some different designs and you can see what you like and dislike about each one. I'll update my build as it progresses. Good luck! State contractors board in NV is online. I did a search of his name, nothing showed. However disciplinary actions are listed by company name. Call 702 486-1100 ask for investigations, if you are lucky you will get Gordon. There was a huge shakeup in Las Vegas pool building business a few years ago and the rats were run off. We used Hamilton-Steele (see link below)who we saw at a home show earlier this year. They charged $500 for the design. In the end we didn't go with them to do the project because after 3 revisions to the pool design it still wasn't right. I think one problem was that the salesman acted as the interface between us and the architect. We never met with him so something was lost in translation. However I think it was worth it to have a good starting point to work with other pool builders. One of the things we liked about Castlerock the salesman (owner) realy liked freeform pool design. He worked with us for many hours to get things just right. I hope that helps. Good luck in your journey. There will be bumps along the way but it is well worth it in the end. Hi -- new to the group, and at the beginning stages of a pool/spa. I am basically doing lots of research AND, trying to find reputable builders to come out and quote. I figured being in the Houston-area, I would have more than enough choices, but I am finding that many of the pool builders don't come out to Humble. I have contacted Picasso (appt set), Precision (contact made), Best Backyards (she is full until 2015), Hipp (no call back, tried 3x's),Simonton (generic response, but no contact), The Pool Man (doesn't build in my area), Atlantis Pools (seems to be out of business, number is disconnected), Pulliam (doesn't build in my area), and Downunda (he is going to be way, way, way out of my budget). Is there anyone that I am missing? I've tried to do alot of scouring of the internet and really trying to get my "ducks in a row" but I am starting to have information overload!

We just had a major pool project completed (old vinyl liner pool torn out and a new gunite pool put in) by Pleasure Pools in Katy. It is a family owned business and has been around for awhile. My pool looks great. They really did good work. Price was reasonable and enjoyed working with the owner, Dick. You might want to give them a call.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am actually an ex-builder (Thank God HAHA). Salt vs Chlorine, in my opinion is really just a personal choice. As far as discoloring the rocks and pitting them,I may be wrong but I suppose it COULD happen. Moss rock is pretty soft. I am not real sure maybe Kelly (Huskyrider) would be a better person to ask. As far as Troy he is a pretty straight shooter, I can't imagine him not taking care of any issues or building an inferior pool. He is also a pretty good designer, some of the more detailed work plan wise I have seen. This is of course based off of stuff I have seen a couple of years ago. It's been a while since I talked to him.

Scot Benson of Benson Pools does a great job...tell him Mindy sent you and make sure you ask for a glacier pool cooler in your pool package...you will not be a happy swimmer in the summer without it!!!

As I was saying earlier, my husband and I just moved to Katy from Florida and weve spent the last few weekends meeting with different pool builders. We have been, by far, most impressed with Castlerock Pools and Spas.
