My September Birthday Blocks - Two Groups

My photo hosting site is finally working again! The Threadheads and Sew Whats threads for September are so long that I thought I'd start a new thread to show the wonderful work of my group members.

Bear Paw blocks from the Threadheads:

Penguin blocks from the Sew Whats:

Aren't they great?? I can't wait to get started on the tops!! Thanks again to everyone.

Those look so good together! I love the "extras" - the nose, the legs, the house spinning in a tornado (upper left). I couldn't begin to pick a favorite, but my eye really goes towards the skyline of the Emerald City. I worry that mine needs a clarification to the group: It's the start of the Yellow Brick Road. :D Do you plan on adding more blocks to it?

All of our September birthdays have passed by. I hope each of you had a wonderful birthday. If you are in the exchange and had a September birthday, please make it easy for us and post on your thread if you have received all of your blocks. If you don't want to "name names" of people you have not received from you are certainly welcome to e-mail me about it. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. A friend and I went fabric shopping so you know I had a nice day. There is a shop about a 45 min. drive from us that had a sale and good quilt shop quality fabrics were marked down to $2.50 a yard! I don't know how they do it, but I am thankful. I got three large cuts (4 1/2 yards each) so if I decide to use them as backing at some point I will have enough. Obviously I got some 1, 2, and 3 yard pieces, too. At that price you felt like lining up with as much as you could carry. The cutting lines were pretty long, but eveyone was courteous and in a very good mood. No pushing, shoving, or snatching fabric from someone else. I like it when people behave at a sale. I also left my machine to get its annual check up and cleaning. (Well, more than a year since I did that, but time sneaks up on us...) Has anyone already started making things for Christmas? Not me, but I guess it will at least be time to start thinking about fall decorating and Halloween soon. I need to read through the suggestions about next year and the Birthday Block Exchange again so I can post something about that - at least by early October. Any other thoughts or ideas that you didn't already list, just let me know. Jeanne

The penguins are terribly cute! And I really like the bear paw blocks -- that's a great pattern for plaids! TFS!!!!

Lucky you. The Bear's Paw blocks are beautiful.I like the colors.The penguin ones are so fun-the blocks make me smile just looking at them, and I really needed that right now.TFS.

Me again,Bonnie. Could you post some pics of the Bear's Paw top as you work on it? I plan to do one later in the year and, if you don't mind, I would like to see how yours progresses. I'll understand if you don't like to post pics until the whole quilt is finished. Thanks a bunch.

The penquin blocks are just too darling for words! Everyone in the Sew Whats did a wonderful job. Of course, we Threadheads didn't do too bad either!

Geraldine, I'll be happy to post pictures of the bear paws in progress, but it might be awhile. I'm currently finishing a 1930's Egg Money sampler from a block a month class and I have at least one other UFO ahead of the birthday blocks. Even in retirement, there's never enough time for everything!
