January Birthday Block Pics(all groups)

This thread is for all those with January Birthdays to post pictures of the lovely blocks they received. It doesn't matter what group you are in this will be for any person in every group with a January birthday. I will also start a new thread every month just like this one.

I want to see your pictures. And everybody else wants to see them too. And since everybody isn't in a birthday group, anyone interested in seeing what we are doing in our groups can come to the monthly pictures post.

So all of you out there with a January birthday lets see some pictures.

I'm so thrilled with your blocks! They are all so beautiful, and such great fabrics. I also enjoyed the wonderful, cute cards; bookmark from Caroline; postcards from Norway(!). I plan to make more blocks, to make a bigger quilt top.

I've drawn out some on graph paper, but don't know how to get that to you...not really good with technology. I'll see what I can do tomorrow at school...lots of young teachers there with great skills. I'm really not picky, but reading the emails lets me know that a 12" finished would be good, and of course I'd like green pine trees if you haven't already done my block. If you have, I will love it anyway! I have my blocks finished except for Linda's 6" Christmas and Deanna's Nature block. I'm getting nervous about whether each of you will like them, but I have been having so much fun. My husband thinks this is a really wonderful thing to do. I'm plotting your cities on a map for the grandchildren, so we can see where each block is going. I have to say that the sunflower was the most challenging pieced block I've done. I found a picture of a pattern I liked and had to figure it out on my own, but the points worked, so it was worth it. I hope the yellows are right. Deanna, I'm having trouble accessing the quilter cache pattern for the sawtooth. I'll keep trying. Is it the sawtooth star? If you could send me the exact webaddress maybe I could get to it that way. I have your fabric though, so I'm ready! This is great fun! Meima (I have a new grandson...born Feb.7th!)

Betty according to the posts you recieved all 12 of your blocks. You recieved two from Juttz. She stepped in for Mollie who had some issues come up and contacted Juttz to let her know she just couldn't continue. Judy decided to make an extra block for the members that would not recieve one from Mollie. Instead of me having to make them. Sometimes this happens and someone just can't continue. But we always try to make sure that you recieve your 12 blocks. When we know that this happens. I am sorry you didn't sign up this year because of this. Some people didn't even get 12 blocks because so many people left the group. But there were a few of us this last year sending extra blocks to try and make sure everyone got as many as possible. Be thankful you were a Sunbonnet Susie and actually had a great group. The Rippettes last year fell apart and ended the year with only 5 or 6 members still sending. But we percevered and tried to get them as many blocks as we could anyway. I know that I make it perfectly clear from the get go that this is a year long committment. But sometimes life just happens and things can't be forseen. We all have to take this into account. Mollie told her group leader she couldn't continue and that group leader made the decision to fill in herself rather than try to find another person. I'm sorry if this may not have been relayed to you. And to make the comment that well Mollie's Birthday was in January just isn't right. She did the best she could and when she just couldn't anymore she told Judy so that a replacement could be found. Because she didn't want anyone to be shorted a block. I am truly sorry if this may offend you but I find it highly offensive to make that snide remark when you recieved 12 blocks from all those great ladies in your group and so many others didn't this last year because there group members just fell of the face of the earth. Amy - thanks for all your hard work organising the swap this year, what with all the changes that have been made - I received all my blocks in April (Calico Queens) and am up to date with blocks being posted out. Okay ladies I think I have decided. I really loved all the names this year. It looks like most of the people in Group 1 that put in there 2 cents liked blockhounds. I like it too so Group 1 is now The Blockhounds. And for groups 4 I know some of you like fabric floozies but we did have an objection from someone being called a floozie or sassy so how does the Calico Queens sound. I really liked that one. Okay those are my picks for this years birthday groups. If there are no objections than those will be our official names this year. These are my blocks from the Piecemakers - my beautiful "Winter Flower Garden". I haven't decided how to put them together yet but my furbaby, Penny, is trying to help! DH thought they were all beautiful and is anxious to see it all together! Thank you again, everyone!!!

I had already decided to use the clover pattern when it was mentioned on the forum. I see you have it more than once but all with different colors.

Sue, your winter garden is beautiful.Helps me remember summer days.It's -13 degrees C here(about 9 degrees F I think)and there's 2 feet of snow on the ground.

Here's what a wonderful lady on the forum told me when I was new:

Hi,
If you sign up at www.photobucket.com, which is free to do, then you can upload your pictures there. Each picture has a few internet-style addresses under it. Their order has changed lately, but I think it is probably the 3rd one down that is the one you want to copy and paste into your Quilting forum message. It will be the one that says "HTML tag".
You just paste that into your message and when you click on "Preview Message," you will see both your message and the photo on the next page that comes up. Try it and you will be surprised how easy it really is!

I've been waiting to see these blocks. What a great collection. Thanks for making us (me, at least) stretch our creativity to come up with something suitable. This was a very fun block to make.

Dian, you're right-there is a lot of talent shown there.What a great theme. I was trying to decide which block I liked best but kept changing my mind. Every block has something I like-the colors, the layout, the block pattern,the feeling of motion, the extra touches, the 'whimsy'.They will make a wonderful quilt. So glad you shared.

Those Wizard of Oz blocks are all incredible, and I really like your choice of theme. Inventive and lots of fun.

Any more January birthday block collections, or should we start moving on to february?

Those look so good together! I love the "extras" - the nose, the legs, the house spinning in a tornado (upper left). I couldn't begin to pick a favorite, but my eye really goes towards the skyline of the Emerald City.

I worry that mine needs a clarification to the group: It's the start of the Yellow Brick Road. :D

Do you plan on adding more blocks to it?

I'm going to try and add a few more blocks for the characters--Dorothy, Toto, the Wizard, Tin Man, Lion.

Juttz is ending a block, too. That will make me two short but I'll figure out what to make when most are done.

Maybe I'll show my quilting group the blocks and see what ideas they come up with.

It sure is a wonderful start, isn't it?
