My youngest uncle and his friends took me to see it, when I was about 14, in Germany.

Since then I have seen it many, many times here in the US. It is such an awesome movie.

Maybe! LOL I loved the book more than the movie but the movie is really excellent too. I probably won't watch the movie again because it is so long and I have seen it many times and even once at a movie theatre. I loved Hattie McDaniel in the movie she - played my favourite character.

Yep, you're the only one. My favorite movie of all time--I can't even imagine how many times I have seen it. And I've read the book 4 times!

You are not alone! I've never seen it nor have I read the book and I own both. I bought the tapes years ago intending to have a cousins (girl) weekend and it has yet to happen. I have since moved to FL and all the cousins are still in Massachusetts.
We recently moved and I unpacked all the tapes and told DH that someday I was going to watch it. He laughed and asked me to let him know and he'd go out on the motorcycle.

It is a magnificent, lush, and overacted movie which is a pleasure to watch. But it's LOONNGG, so you may want to watch it in two parts. I've seen it several times, can recite much of the dialogue, and still love it.

The question shouldn't be 'have I seen it?' but 'how many times have I seen it?' I saw it at the movies as a young gal. Again at the movies when I was first married. And several times on tv. I also own tapes of it.

Oh, yikes, I just looked up the length: 238 minutes!! If I'm by myself, I can't even watch a regular movie in one sitting. I'm not kidding.....it takes me several days to a week to get through a movie. This perhaps explains why I'm so fond of TV show DVDs. Twenty to forty minutes of watching is just right.

I can only have GWTW for a week. I wonder how many times I can renew it......? LOL

Nope, DH and I have never seen it and never read the book. I just don't have any interest in seeing it....the time period does nothing for me. Maybe someday.

I saw it once years and years ago. I liked the book better.

I loved the orig Gone With The Wind, but didn't like the sequel at all. I don't like books about Ireland and their wars or any wars for that matter. I watch the orig every year or so.

When GWTW was published, my sister-in-law bought a copy and let me read it. I had to sneak to read it though, because my DF had heard about the book and decided it wasn't fit for his little girl. I believe I was 13 at the time. It definitely made me swoon.

I was fascinated with the story and the characters. I don't remember the first time I saw the movie, but I have seen it several times. It is a classic.

It was shown this past Tuesday evening on TCM.

Remember in my younger years, my mother would not allow me to see. She and my grandmother went. Have no reason why, other than I was too young.

Never saw it until I was an adult and divorced, which means I was in my 40's, and I watched on tv when it was airing.

Have seen it numerous times since.

Was on Oxygen, or some channel, the other weeks.

Magnificent movie!

It came out when my parents were kids and I remember seeing it in the theater when I was young -- it was so long they had an intermission halfway through!

It's a grand old movie I bet you'll enjoy.

(If it's any comfort, I believe I was the last person in the continental United States to see Star Wars!)

I enjoyed the book and love the movie. Vivien Leigh is spectacular and wears the most beautiful costumes! Clark Gable is perfection. Have seen it many many times.

Oh and - it was Atlanta that burned. Tara never did.

I have never seen Star Wars and it is not on my list of things to see. I haven't been to the movies since ET came out! I just don't care for them. I don't watch many movies on television either. I did watch a Tree Grows in Brooklyn the other day. I happen to have that book too.

I've seen GWTW multiple times over the years. I've read the book multiple times over the years. There is also a 'newer' sequel called Scarlet that tells the tale of Scarlet after Rhett left her. I've only seen it once but read the book a few times.

I've watched this movie many times and have it in VHS form also.

I remember seeing this movie as a young girl at the theater and was surprised there was an intermission; I had no idea how long it was.

I now enjoy watching for the wardrobe of Scarlett and others as much as anything else. :)

I have seen the movie and read the book both many times. My husband will not read the book or look at the movie. I do not understand him, except he says that he does not want to, will never look at the movie. He does not read novels. The only thing he reads are woodworking books, or magazines, self-help books on different subjects, money management or investment, computer, science today, stuff like that. He came from a engineering type family, thinks movies and novels like that are a waste of his time and energy.(whatever, we are soo different in that area) He does not like movies.

I remember being allowed to stay up late to watch GWTW on TV along with my mother and aunt. I, too, 'snuck-read' it, along with Madame Bovary, at much too young an age.

There are just so many famous quotes from this movie:

"Lawdy, Ms. Scarlett, I don' know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies!"

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

"I'll think about that...tomorrow."

"As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!"

(I'm probably not 100% accurate, but y'all remember these lines.)

If you never saw GWTW you didn't understand why Carol Burnett was so funny in a sketch where she played Scarlett. Receiving compliments on her lovely green velvet gown, Burnett says, "Oh, thank you. I saw it in the window and I just HAD to have it!"

Poor Vivian Leigh; you can see a glimmer of her ultimate madness in Scarlett.

I love both the movie and the book. I saw the movie on the big screen once back in the 70's and that is the best way to see it, but it's good on TV, too.

The book is outstanding. I once read it in under a 24 hour period.

I've seen the flick many, many, times, including the era when some towns forbid it because Rhett said a curse word; i.e., "frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." I think it's the best movie ever made.

I've seen the occasional 6 or 7 minutes of the movie, in various sections, but it never held my attention long enough to actually watch the whole thing. I knew what the movie was instantly, I watched for a bit, and then I changed the channel .

I thought the production was excellent, but the subject matter just didn't interest me at all
