Yeah! I'm learning about websites and HTML

I am taking an online course right now for teachers that teaches how to create a classroom website. I am learning HTML! Yeah! I know someone posted here once telling us how underline, bold and italicize, but I forgot. Today I learned again! Yeah. This is going to be so much fun!

I get such a kick out of these things. I learned to use Publisher by experience making so many newsletters and flyers for PTAs and organizations over the years. I am so excited to learn something new!

So, you experts, do you have any tips to share with a student?

Good for you!! Stephanie. I wish there were classes offered in my area. I've learned, what little I do know from trial and error. (mostly error.LOL) The underline, bold and italicize I learned from some of our KT friends. Keep it up, kiddo. Dottie

Hi Karin & Linda, This looks like a great convention. Karin, because you like photography, you will probably really enjoy this. Doris Browlie is the wife of a hybridizer and Winston Goretsky is the main photographer for the African Violet Magazine Ruth Coulson is an Autrailian author of a book on African Violets that I used to own and give as a gift. I liked her book. Here are a couple of brief write ups -- there is an interview with Winston G. on one of the Annie podcasts. For aligning text the best thing is to put your text in tables. If you are not familar with tables, but have basic knowledge of html then they are easy to learn. Here is a link that explains tables and gives you copy/paste codes to use. Ed's site was created for ebay users, but the codes can be used on any web page. These aren't things I'm necessarily just learning, but points that are driven home to me with greater intensity on a near daily basis: -To never say never. -That I really don't know what others are thinking, or why they are behaving as they are. My tendency is to believe that if someone is, say, short with me - well, they must be mad at me. And that's just almost never the case. In other words, I'm learning not to make assumptions about the actions of others.

Thanks Barb - both of you LOL. Ba1je thanks for the tip on cleaning, that scalloped edge may drive me crazy . Crafty- the cup has some of the pattern, too, but it was so rounded I didn't use it on the tray.Maybe I can do a small flower pot with it. Most of the pink flowery plates I find have a beige backround. I love this because it was white and "brighter" looking. Looking forward to seeing Jeff's "realistic fish" Maria

My tip would be.....if you see something on another website that you are interested in you can google for the html code. You can also look at the "source" which shows the code for the page.

Keep at it. You will love it!

Several years ago I challenged myself to learn some HTML and put up a web site for my Senior's Writing Group. I found tutorials on line, and if you go to the Computer Help forum, and look at the top you will see two HTML help sites.

It was a lot of fun and fascinating to see what you can do with a few keystrokes. This was when IE was THE browser. Different browsers read sites differently and now that there are so many, pages look screwy sometimes depending on the browser being used.

I used Angelfire (free) to host the site and then did one just for myself and linked to it.

At the risk of blowing my own horn (which is a very small horn and makes a very small toot) I'm including the URL.
