Yeah! I'm learning about websites and HTML

I am taking an online course right now for teachers that teaches how to create a classroom website. I am learning HTML! Yeah! I know someone posted here once telling us how underline, bold and italicize, but I forgot. Today I learned again! Yeah. This is going to be so much fun!

I get such a kick out of these things. I learned to use Publisher by experience making so many newsletters and flyers for PTAs and organizations over the years. I am so excited to learn something new!

So, you experts, do you have any tips to share with a student?

Good for you!! Stephanie. I wish there were classes offered in my area. I've learned, what little I do know from trial and error. (mostly error.LOL) The underline, bold and italicize I learned from some of our KT friends. Keep it up, kiddo. Dottie

It is science but it is ruled by emotion. What?!? There will be some roses suited to your climate but they "just don't excite me" and there will be roses that shouldn't thrive in your garden, but you are so enamored that you must have them and will do whatever it takes to grow them. Some will work out and some won't. That's the fun and passion of rose gardening! And you will learn so much the hard way. I am trying to find some room for more Chinas and teas by SP'ing more DA roses that I "had to have" but have not thrilled me like the Chinas and teas which were bred for my climate. But if I hadn't tried the DA's, I would still be lusting after these roses, grown in more temperate climates, from pictures in the catalogs and here on the web. Now, I know I can rarely have a quality DA plant. But Chinas and teas.... they will be happy in my garden and I will be happy with them. Have fun! Buff

I think it's important that the room feels right IRL. The advantage of the photo's is that you get a different perspective and an opportunity to see it the way it really is. For instance, my kitchen "felt" just fine to me. I took some pictures for an e-mail to my sister and "something" looked wrong to me. It was the toe kicks under the cabinet base (which are really more base boards, but you can't tell and they look like they should be part of the base cabinets). I painted all the toe kicks black and it's just what was needed to kind of anchor the room. The cabinets looked like they were floating before. And after seeing my telephone on another thread -- I'm definitely going to do something different with that area!

I'm back to whine about my latest haircut

In the nest town 9 miles over I go to a lady who has her shop right in her home. I pay 15 dollars thats including a small tip> For years now I tell them I want my hair cut 2 or 2 1/2 inches long all over. I never get a bad haircut. I usually get it cut about every 6 or 8 weeks. Now since I have psoriasis I have to have it a little longer in the back on the bottom to cover that up. She has leukemia though so I dont know how long she will be able to keep doing it. I have gone all over for a haircut but if I tell them how I want it cut I have no problem. My hair grows fast. Once in a while I'll cut it in between myself because it gets to long. I also cut my husbands hair. We bought a clipper at Target to do it and I do a pretty good job. Except for the time we were going to Canada for an INTERNATIONAL CLOGGING CONVENTION and I scalped him in one spot in the back and when it came time to do the NATIONAL ANTHEMS he had to go in the bathroom because he couldnt take his cap off. His hair grows fast too. It is easier to cut if it isnt too long though.

It looks lovely, an amazing transformation! Are you planning a backsplash? We are just finishing a similar kitchen reno with creamy white cabinets, hardwood floors, yellow walls, and giallo michaelangelo quartz for perimeter tops and are searching for a backsplash that ties it all together. I'd be interested in knowing if you guys are going through the same decision process.

My tip would be.....if you see something on another website that you are interested in you can google for the html code. You can also look at the "source" which shows the code for the page.

Keep at it. You will love it!

Several years ago I challenged myself to learn some HTML and put up a web site for my Senior's Writing Group. I found tutorials on line, and if you go to the Computer Help forum, and look at the top you will see two HTML help sites.

It was a lot of fun and fascinating to see what you can do with a few keystrokes. This was when IE was THE browser. Different browsers read sites differently and now that there are so many, pages look screwy sometimes depending on the browser being used.

I used Angelfire (free) to host the site and then did one just for myself and linked to it.

At the risk of blowing my own horn (which is a very small horn and makes a very small toot) I'm including the URL.
