IVF update

I start the dreaded meds tomorrow!! Actually, I started my first round of injections a week ago today. They normally make me feel really lousy, mostly with headaches, but I've been sick with a sinus and ear infection for 2 weeks so I think the symptoms of the meds just blended in with everything else. I feel pretty good now.

I had some blood work and an ultrasound this morning to make sure I was ready for the next set of meds; I am. These next drugs will stimulate my ovaries to produce lots of eggs! This is the meds that my body overresponds to. Hopefully since I'm older now (it's been 3 years since my last IVF cycle), I'll do better this time around. My tentative egg retrieval date is May 7. I should know by the 21st if I'm pregnant, then if I am, 2 weeks later, they'll do an ultrasound and I'll know if it's twins.

((Hugs)) I've been where you are at with so many pregnancies (only have one child to show for them), but no IVF experience. It is so hard, but I have to say with the only pregnancy that made it almost to term for me it was also the only one that just showed a sac that early in the pregnancy and nothing in it, but my OB at that point said it was early and could go either way. Well a week later we had a heartbeat. Although at that point I couldn't get excited at all still as my previous one had a nice strong heartbeat at that time too and then nothing at 9 weeks. Pregnancy to me was just a huge roller coaster of emotions and constant worries. When is the next US, when are we past the most common point of having losses, 12 weeks to measure the neck fold to check for downs syndrome, when are we at 16 weeks to start progesterone shots and incompetent cervix monitoring, 24 weeks when the baby will be saved if born early, and then weekly onward. Then when the baby was born a whole new set of worries. I was a very high risk pregnancy though. My DH didn't get attached at all to the baby until she was born (he made up for it then) and was very distant during the pregnancy. I think his way of dealing with anything going wrong. You are right though, you will always remember this. I wish the u/s this week will show a little seed or even a heart beat and you can at least get a chance to try to relax and enjoy pregnancy instead of the constant worry I experienced. Hi Everyone, I'm here. :) Sorry I missed your bumps! Nothing has changed since my last post, still waiting a couple more weeks for my next ultrasound and doctor appointments. Still no symptoms, just feel like I'm living large and gained 7 more pounds stress eating. We haven't told anyone else yet as I want to wait for the NT scan and the Panorama test we are doing (it's the one for Down and other chromosome screening). It was suggested I do it at my "advanced maternal age" and I couldn't not know if something is wrong. It takes 2 weeks for the bloodwork to come back and you all know how I love to wait. It's all I seem to do! I still have no symptoms while all my online pregnant mommy friends are still nauseous or suffering from morning sickness, all sore and tired, crazy cravings, etc. I kinda feel left out with none of it! Whatever I pictured pregnancy to feel like, this isn't it. I tried on some maternity clothes and I just look ridiculous. I ended up just going up a size in regular clothes as nothing looked right yet. I wish it was still winter and I could hide in my sweaters and leggings. Hopefully I'll relax once we get all the test results back and I know everything is ok. We find out the gender from the test too so that part will be exciting. Thank you for thinking of me. I'm trying to stay off my computer as I tend to google like crazy and get myself all worked up. :)

I just have to say ... your attitude through all of this is so very refreshing, Steph. There's no "poor me," or "why me" coming from you. Just true appreciation for medical miracles, disappointment when things don't work, and optimism for the future. My prayers continue to be with you. We know it works, Grant is the shining proof!

I'm glad your ex agreed to the supervised visitation. That would just be a mess if he had decided to fight it; I'm glad that you could all be adult about it. I hope his rehab goes well. I hope the IVF goes well!

I have been waiting for this post. We have all had so much fun watching Grant grow from the day you found out you were pregnant with him. I rememeber when the nurses told you not to continue with your meds, bacause you were not going to be able to continue the pregnancy. Your mother instinct kicked in, and you did just the opposite.
I look forward to this IVF coming up, I just have a good feeling about it.
