What do there Filter PSI Numbers mean to you?

Background:

- Pump: Pentair Intelliflo VS-3050

- Filter is a Pentair Clean and Clear Plus 420 SF with a PSI gauge on top

- Pool suction: two 2" lines (one for main drains, and one for skimmers)

Pool return: four returns, pipe is 2" from the manifold, but I guess it gets downsized somewhere near the pool wall

- Spa suction: one 3" pipe

- Spa return: one 2 1/2 pipe

I took some pressure readings using the PSI gauge on the filter for different RPM speeds, and for pool and spa mode. I found the following:

Pool Mode (suck from pool, return to pool and not spa):

Speed 2 = 3 PSI

Speed 3 = 9 PSI

Speed 4 = 20 PSI

Spa Mode:

Speed 2 = 5 PSI

Speed 3 = 13 PSI

Speed 4 = 30 PSI

I figure since the speed is the same for both modes, the actual value is meaningless, so I left it out.

I would have expected the Spa Mode to have less PSI across the filter because of the up sized plumbing. Am I missing something? Am I misinterpreting the numbers?
