Need some inspiration

Hi all. Haven't been around for a while. Life has been getting in the way of my quilting however I have been lurking. I need to make a baby quilt. They don't know the sex of the baby. It's been a while and I need inspiration!! Show me some pics of your baby quilts and I'm sure I will get inspired to create once again.

I think the beadboard is lovely! But I would paint it some color other than white -- will be richer, I think. Have you ever seen Ellen Kennon Gustavian Gray? The most gorgeous spa blue-green-gray with chameleon qualities. Maybe that on the ceiling, and either more of the same on the walls (it'll read deeper just due to the change in plane) or a slightly deeper tone? Or possibly a very grayed down lavender on the walls with a few pots of the lavender plant? Seems somehow very French... Love your fabric and think that'll work with many colors.

honor- you are right, I think the samples seem gray and since the granite comes in tomorrow and we still haven't decided on tile, I guess we have officially given up on a Wednesday install! Or at least I have! Beekeeperswife- lol, well right now yours is in at the top of the list (in ivory), but I think we are going to order some more samples too. If I hadnt done a damask pattern in the other room I think I could pull the trigger but it might appear that I have a damask obsession (I do, a little) but so far its the only one we both tentatively agree on! I wish I would have ordered some samples earlier. Word to the wise, dont procrastinate like me! I also found that a lot of the handmade ones take like 8 weeks to get in so that rules out a lot due to my waiting so late. Oh well. At least I finally ordered hardware today. All my masking tape hardware is falling off and I cant get my doors open so I was forced to decide!

That is too sweet. I saw a beautiful Pileated Woodpecker yesterday just outside my window. It was so close. Their coloration is also amazing. I'm seeing a little less diversity since the hawks took up residence, but am hoping the Bard Owl shows up again.

I work from home and often wear leggings/tunic when I’m home most of the day because Comfort. The rest of the time my uniform is jeans but I also have these pants, which I LOVE. http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46800&pcid=46800&vid=1&pid=964562012 Ignore the bunching at the ankles. They have drawstrings that aren’t really noticeable and I don’t “draw” them. They’re so comfy, light weight, if I wear them with a t-shirt I have that might-be-going-to-the-gym look without looking too sloppy. These pants have gone on several vacations with me. I have the petite size. I also really like Lucky Brand tops. They have prints that are sort of boho but not over the top. Comfy and washable and a lot of them are a good length (I’m only 5’2” and have problems with tops being too long unless they’re petite). They seem to have sales online pretty regularly. Finally, more cotton jersey comfort...the Rosemarie dress from Toad & Co is so versatile. I own two in black and a couple others in different colors.

Every year Quiltmaker Magazine has a free pattern, many of them good for a girl or a boy. I had a friend who didn't want to know what she was having so I made the ice cream quilt:

Wow! Wish I needed another baby quilt. What wonderful ideas and fabulous quilting.

Can only find pix of my most recent one. I loved the colors and prints and had a ball quilting ducks and rabbits all over it with pastel variegated thread. I figured the baby wouldn't be too critical, which is good because my "free motion" can be a bit primitive.

These are a little better picture of the bunnies and ducks. The quilt lives with an adorable little girl in France. Sending a quilt overseas can be an expensive nightmare.

I know what you mean LindaB....I sent 2 quilts to my grandsons in New Zealand and it cost around $70. If I sent it from Canada it would have been over $150 so I guess US postage is a deal. I have to finish making GS#3's big boy quilt and send it for Christmas 2013. I started making a Bugjar quilt for him but he is Daddy's little helper and loves to garden, help build things and he shadows his Daddy every chance he gets so perhaps will figure something out with tools and gardening things.

Lovely quilts everyone and I am sure we have all gained some inspiration from them.

This is an awesome thread...these quilts are fabulous as always from this group!
One of my staff is having a baby in two weeks, and last Wed. it was decided that we should have a shower for her this Wed...nothing like last minute...(I work for a goverment agency...need I say more!) So Saturday afternoon I decided to make a quick quilt, finished it Tuesday night in time for the Wed shower. Stole most of the ideas from Fresh Lemon Quilts, used scraps on hand and Mom-to-be seemed to liked it.

For what it's worth - this is a recent quilt made at retreat. Not too babyish - can be used for older kiddos, too.
