OT- article in Southern Living Magazine

We are so excited, they are coming Saturday to the restaurant where my DS1 is the chef and DIL is the manager and taking pics and gathering the info for an article to appear later in the year. The editor has eaten with us in the past and has stated they would be back ...and wa la here they come ! Here is a link to the website. If you look under "events" you will see all the wine dinners archived. My DH plays jazz there and maintains the website and I used to be the dishwasher but got promoted to hostess :)Hope you enjoy looking !

How simply wonderful!!!

Naturally we will expect full details about the visit (and photos if possible!) .... and the food of course!

So funny you posted this... I finally had time last night to crack open the July issue and that article was what I turned to first. I will go back tonight and re-read it and study the pics closer. I think all coneflowers may be my favorite flowering perennial this year, due to their "no" maintenance, drought tolerance, butterfly and bee attraction, and the fact that they reseed to make babies. Last year I planted some of the newer varieties like Harvest Moon and Sundown and I think they are beautiful !! They grew sturdy, strong stems and have tons of beautiful, long lasting flowers. I couldn't be mnore pleased with them. Will the new varieties make babies too ? I have 2 reseeded baby plants of Magnus that are about to flower, and I wish I had more so I could transplant them to other areas of the yard. I would love it if Sundown and Harvest Moon had babies. I will be looking forward to more articles from your DIL's garden !! Congrats :)

For a change, I will disagree with Allison: I did love Southern Accents, and though I do appreciate Veranda, I do not love it. While the photos are lovely, they're so grand and glossy they can often have an unreal feel to them...a staged "I-hired-a-top-designer-and-we only-reside-here-6 weeks a year" kind of feel. Southern Accents homes, on the whole, had more layers, character, depth to them. Well, that's just my comparison of these two beautiful mags, and not an in depth study...FWIW....not much. :>/ :>)

It appears that the stripes have polka-dots, and that suggests to me that perhaps it is constructed as Squirrel suggested, to coordinate with the larger polka-dotted pillows. It kind of looks like a wide green stripe on cream with black narrow stripes, and then the polka-dotted ribbons added. Keep in mind, too, that sometimes the items shown in a shoot aren't currently available, but from a 'stash' that designers and photo stylists keep to use.

I've subscribed to Southern Living since l983 and had issues sent to my mom the last ten years or so, as well. This year she asked me not to renew her subscription for the same reasons that many of you have mentioned; I have felt the same way for a very long time. I can't remember the last time I did more than flip through the magazine for about three minutes and then toss it. So, we no longer receive Southern Living. Perhaps part of the reason is that after over twenty years, nothing is "new." I do think that as in the case of HGTV, a different generation is in charge and it's obvious we're not on the same page. Traditional Home, Veranda, Blueprint, Domino and others are magazines that are more interesting to me at this time; however, several years ago I canceled Traditional Home because it was so bland and boring. I suppose at one time or another they all reinvent themselves, like we do from time to time.

You must be so proud! First I checked the menu (well, the wine list, actually) and THEN the menu! It looks like a fabulous place! Congratulations!

Well, I certainly know where I will be eating dinner if I am ever in your neck of the woods. The menu sounds divine! Looking forward to seeing the article.

I am just getting home they called at 5PM and said they were going to be busier than expected so I went in.

You all send such sweet notes. Please do come by if you are ever in the area. We are only 1 1/2 hr from Atlanta or B'ham and 1 hr from Montgomery.

We are very proud and excited. The article will have pics of the town as well so should be fun. THANK YOU all , Caroline

That is wonderful - if I am ever down that way, I am ordering the scallops!

Please be sure to let us know when the article appears, but of course we want to hear all about the shoot, too!

Wow, that's fabulous! If you were in my neck of the woods I'd treat myself to a visit -- it looks like a great place. We want to hear all about the photo shoot and article -- how exciting!

Caroline, Congratulations to all of you! Judging from the menus, it's easy to see why SL wants to do a feature article on this place. That boy of yours has real talent! I am blown away by the creativity of his offerings. I would love to eat there someday. I have a sis in the Atlanta area and have bookmarked the restaurant's site for our next trip to see her.

Les the scallops were on the menu last night !! Lynn please do come see us it would be wonderful. all of you have been so kind. I will post when the article will appear. They will be talking about the town of Waverly also as it is quite Historic and interesting. Only 225 people in the town.

Our fish is selected by my son's supplier as the boats come in in Hawaii. Each fish is line caught on "day boats" so no nets that destroy the ocean and also not kept on boats on ice for days. It is FedXed to us and arrives about 18 hrs out of the water. Very fresh and wonderful. We have lots of local gardeners who supply the fruits and vegetables too so it is a community achievement. We are really glad that they are recognizing the area. Thanks again and I will post the date as I know it. Caroline
