Okay - quickly. I was so frustrated also with the price jump in larger pulls. It seems that if they 'code' it an 'appliance' pull they want upwards of $50 bucks for one. I found only around 3 different pulls that had the larger sizes at $7-10. Grr! So we did end up going with the Greenwich because we liked it well enough (would have preferred a bit more traditional but I don't think it looks ultra modern) and it wasn't going to break the bank. So we are doing like MissLizzie but ALL horizontal. I just picked up the rest of my pulls, they were on back order. So, dh doesn't have the uppers installed yet or the 2 lowers that are doors but will be horizontal. I apologize in advance - there is stuff everywhere. I tried to get it all out of the frame but....... We are no where near settled from moving but it is what it is! Here is the island - the sink base next to the trash - all horizontal. Sorry for the dark photo: Area that has a drawers, a 12" door and then the susan. These will be the medium pulls - 5ish inches. I can look the exact up if you want. I tried to hold one and take a pic this morning. Did my best but it should be a further away shot. My helpers were still in bed. :) So I don't think there is really a wrong or right. Do what you like. We are still doing vertical on the uppers. Once it's finished I'll post a pic...hopefully this week! I used the rule of thirds that I found in a breezygirl post a while back. All of our drawers on the perimeter are 33" or 36" - and I used the largest pull ~10". The 18" and 21" on the island I used the medium ~6 3/8" and I will use those on all the doors. I'm not using and of the 3" - they just looked really dinky.

These considerations above are the same I go back and forth and can't seem to make up my mind. Gosh, I didn't know deciding on handles would be so difficult! :) @ Mayflower: I am actually leaning towards the dakota wire pull in antique pewter. I like it because it is dark, but not "too" dark, like ORB. I looked at tons of white kitchens on pinterest and while I like black and ORB there, here in my home I feel it pops against the white cabinets and the overall feeling of the kitchen too much. @Herbflavor: Thanks for the compliments on my kitchen. That is what I was going for/wanted - a airy, light kitchen with a farm feel to it. But not too "farmy" if you get my meaning. I feel like a light hardware finish would make the kitchen even more "airy and light" (polished nickel) and love the look of it on pictures. Matter of a fact, I was almost certain I was going to choose the bistro handle in PN, but then, when I put it against the the cabinet in my kitchen, I didn't like it. I thought it was too chunky/big and shiny. @Pippabean: Thanks:) My little helper is great and has lots of opinions - she thinks herself and artist and because of that, her opinions is the one that should matter....lol Actually some of her opinions are good - she told me the kitchen had too much blue and need some other colors:) The backsplash is a portuguese tile I took forever to find and I am so happy with it. It makes me smile every time I look at it because it reminds me of my home country and, mostly, of my grandma (she was Portuguese) who was fantastic! They are blue and white. On the other walls, I have simple subway tiles by Fireclay in Tusk color. Thanks again everyone!

The last think anyone wants to have finicky pulls in a kitchen. Those would be a mess if ones hands were wet and if one had fingernails at all. I have regular pulls and if my hands are wet, I can use my pinky to pull open a cabinet or drawer. In a kitchen and a bath, function simply must trump form.

Actually I am so glad you mentioned color. I ordered white dove and mocha cherry. I got the samples last night. I honestly thought the white looked whiter but then I thought it was the night time lighting and didn't really think about it. When I saw you said yours was oatmeal I looked at it and saw the white dove also which is definitely creamier. Turns out the sample I got is actually essential white (WAY more white like a bright light. I thought maybe I had lost my mind but I knew I had really liked it when I was selecting!!!). Phew. So I really did order white dove, which is a bit whiter than oatmeal but definitely not a bright white. Sorry to derail this. But thank you!!!
