new pool build and some questions

hello everyone lots of good info in here that has helped us out.so we signed the paper work for our pool last week and i still have a few questions i am looking to get your opinions on. the pool is 32 x 19.5 3.5ft-7ft free form.with two love seats a deep end swim out and cabo shelf.so far we are going to have 1 sheer decent from a 12x12 raised sun deck and two rock bublers 1 on each side of the sun deck. 450 ft stamped colored concrete.

Question 1 is the pool comes with 1 Jandy color light .should we have two ? or is one enough for this size pool.

Also the pool comes with 1 skimmer. Is this enough ? we have no pets and very little dirt or trees in our yard.

also anyone have a pool this size it seems to me to be a bit small but it fits our yard well and falls into our price range.

I hope we will be swimming by the end of summer. thanks for any help

One light should be fine. Try to place the light in a location that points away from the patio area so you can see the effect of the light and not the light itself.
One skimmer placed downwind will also be fine. 3 return lines into the pool will help move the debris nicely toward the skimmer.
You'll get great use from a pool that size and keep your chemical and electric costs minimized. Good luck.

I think one light is fine if your are going with plaster or a light colored aggregates. If you go with a dark pebble aggregate, you need two lights. You need to decide on your final finish. Your pool is bigger than mine and I wish I had two lights.

Steel walls would be my choice polymer walls tend to warp and don't give you those straight lines on the pool. I change about 40 liners in pools per season and the steel walls very seldom show any type of corrosion and some of these pools are 20yrs plus old. Go with the salt system the UV will cause staining down the road...If I had to pick between sand or a cartridge filter I would go with sand...Do some research on DE fiters to me they are the best of both worlds and that is what I have on my personnel pool and as a builder I could have any filter I want... also if it were me I would look at Pentair equipment. For the heater if you not planning on swimming in Dec look at a heat pump rather than gas....250,000 BTU should be fine other than that... Rusty

jhmjr, Sorry for the delayed response. I actually made a completely different thread for the final product. Here are the pics and a youtube video for you: We opened up the Pool June 24th, and thouroughly enjoyed the pool the entire summer. East Coast Pool Concepts out of Manalapan NJ did an incredible job from start to finish. I would HIGHLY recommend them for anyone considering a pool in NJ/NY/PA area. I cannot say enough about the quality job these guys did, the attention to detail, and the follow up. Even after the job was done, and I finished my payments, they were still checking up with me and stopping by to make sure all was going well. They build a great pool, they are great to work with and they stand by their work. hello, we have decided to install a fiberglass pool. met with 3 builders and one stands out (nova pools in glen burnie md). we do have a budget and are wondering if it would be a good idea to purchase our own automatic pool cleaning system. i was quoted 1450 for auto pool cleaner but have seen them in the 800-1000 range if purchased separately. also it seems less expensive to purchase our own cover. what kind of cover do you recommend? another concern is that the builder we want to use installs san juan pools. we really want to install a trilogy, would it be appropriate to ask him to install another brand? thanks for your thoughts as we are newbies!! also, what size pump would you recommend for 25x 28 fiberglass, we do want salt, is a spa worth the extra cost? any other ideas or advice for us to consider is most appreciated. thank you

This is very helpful feedback. It sounds like I need to consider putting two lights on the house side, one near the deep end and one in the shallow end both pointing toward the raised beam. But I could get away with just one down the center with no major shadows. racket: the pool will have Stonescapes Tahoe Blue. I'm not sure I understand what you meant by "If its dark/pebble one length" Could you please clarify? About the drains....The engineering drawing (which I don't have a copy of right now, it may be out hanging on the fence) and my contract indicate only 2. The sketch always showed 4 though...not sure why. njfolks: At the rate we're making changes, it may be next summer before digging... Please let us know how your lighting works out. Anyone have an opinion about having only one skimmer with a vacuum side cleaner?

Ours is suppose to be 31x16 but its free form so thats give or take. We use Stonescape Tahoe Blue which is a medium color aggregate finish. Unfortunately, originally the PB would not do any pebble aggregate finish and would only do plaster diamondbrite/3M equivalent. It was going to be close to white so one light was plenty. Then we dumped the PB and went with the pebble aggregate on our own which is what we originally wanted anyway. Its hard to put a light in when the gunite is done.

Keep in mind that unless you have a party, like to night swim or are selling your house, the light probably isn't going to be on. It will be on more times in the first month possibly than the rest of the year if your like me and my neighbors who both have pools.

You can get away with one light but you will be happier with two if you go with a darker finish...it just absorbs a lot of the light and one end of the pool (usually the shallow end is dark)

The plaster choice is probably at least as important as the size.

There are some photos in some of the posts of a person with two lights in a pebble finish and you can see how good it looks.

I have a pool that is 20X40 and its free form also. I have two lights and two skimmers. I also have 7 jets in my pool. I don't have a lot of trees, but believe you me until you get grass on the ground, you will have a lot of dirt in your pool. You'll be amazed at where the dirt comes from. And its not your yard you have to worry about. Any trees within 100 feet will have all of there leaves in your pool. Its murphy's law. Also your pool will be a magnet for all sorts of debris. I would think two skimmers would be better for you. I have a white finish with Hayward logic lights and it takes the place of a colored finish. Look around and you'll see how beautiful it is at nite with the multi colors.
You'll love the bubblers and the tanning deck.
But the biggest advice I can give you is get as much decking as possible that you can afford. I decided at the last minute to go with more decking and I love it. One it keeps grass away from the pool. And two, people can stand around your pool and not be in the grass. The mood and ambience is so different. Maybe its because we put up a gazebo near the pool. So look at your design when they come out to mark it and see if you can add more decking.
You'll definitely appreciate it.

thanks for the info.we are going with a tahoe blue plaster so we may add the extra light and i know for sure i am going to add some extra decking most likly 200+ft for a 12x12 gazebo.we are still waiting for the city to ok our plans so for now theres not much to do.
