Are You Having A Really Good Meal This Evening?

I doubt if our supper will qualify as a really good meal. I am fixing a frozen pepperoni Digiorno pizza with the bread sticks that come with it and the sauce. I haven't had one of those before. I have a fresh pitcher of iced tea also and some apple pie. I am tired this evening. I filled up the softener with two 40 pounds bags of salt pellets and also lifted two big Rubbermaid totes full of fabric up to the house from the club house on my little shopping cart and then lugged them upstairs to my sewing room. I have all the strawberry jam in the freezer except a bit I kept out. It is getting more cloudy and cooler now and seems to be falling pretty fast. Now reads 64 and it got up to at least 77 this afternoon. So, are you having a tasty supper?

Yes. I made enchilladas and Spanish rice this morning. I am taking some to a friend and will just nuke mine in the microwave when I get hungry.

Sweet and sour chicken and shrimp fried rice if I feel up to it. If not, I'll have DH pull out some salisbury steaks I froze last week.

meatloaf...mashed potato's and gravy...corn...green beans...noodles...baked beans and rolls...now who wants to clean up...I made lots for leftovers since I wont be here the next three nights and we still have some Veggie Soup and a Pasta Dish I made last night in the frig...no one is going hungry around here unless their blind and can't see what's in the frig!! My son got a nook in his crawl last week and cleaned my refrigerator...I swear he even alphabetized the stuff in the door...LOL...It is soo clean...I wish he'd get these bursts of energy more often around here!!

I made lasagna. I make it with ricotta, mozarella and sweet Italian turkey sausage (much less greasy). My 6 y/o DS *loves* lasagna. It's always good when I can make at least one of the family very, very happy. ;o) He eats it like it's chocolate cake! Just as I took it out of the oven, he came bouncing down the stairs licking his lips saying "I know what's for dinner! I smell lasagna!" Lasagna night is the night he will out-eat even his 15 y/o brother. Can't get enough. Tomorrow night he will ask me for leftovers. Too cute!

When I was growing up it was breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the school/work week, breakfast was hot or cold cereal depending on the season and lunch was a sandwich and whatever in a lunch box...with a thermos!! Rarely a hot school lunch, usually when we needed a trip to the grocer. And when we were old enough, we made our own lunch to take to school. Weekends, we had a hot family breakfast, usually eggs and bacon in some form, occasionally pancakes made by my older brother. Dinner was always a sit down meal with the whole family and eaten at around 7 pm. Often nothing very fancy during the week but Sunday was always a roast of some kind or meatloaf or chicken and dumplings. And dessert, which we never had during the week. When we got older and my older sibs had a social life, mom and dad and I often went out for dinner on Saturday, usually for Chinese. Now that I am single and don't have to cook for a family, my meal times and what I decide to cook or eat are very flexible. I am a very early riser so other than coffee first thing, I may not eat for 4 or 5 hours after I get up. And if I have breakfast, I often skip lunch. And dinner may or may not happen at all. I almost always have a few nibbles - what my mom called "blotting paper" - with my evening glass of wine, some cheese and crackers, hummus, guacamole and chips, etc., and that may be dinner. And sometimes I just graze on whatever might be available....leftovers, a baked potato, soup, an omlette, a grilled cheese sandwich, deli take-out. Last night it was a deli chicken tender and cherries. I probably only cook a "real dinner" once or twice a week.

Lkgrace, Cedar Key is my husband's home town. He is getting ready to go back to visit, a couple of days after Christmas. His half sister and her husband were caretakers on Seahorse Key, owned by the University of Florida. There is a lighthouse there and 10 room house. A favorite memory of mine is visiting them there back in the late '60's and eating fried oysters that his sister cooked for us. (That and the masses of squirrels that came to meet our boat, and the treats that his sister brought for them.)

Supper tonight would definitely not qualify for a "really good meal". I had leftover tilapia, and something I rarely have in the house was some deli food.... Just was too tired when I picked up a few groceries, so picked some up.

Grilled ribeye steaks and chopped salad for us tonight. Iced tea to drink. Celebrating this lovely weather by eating on the back porch.

Well it's my B'day so I'm splurging and going to have a small rib eye steak. I just hope I don't over cook it, as I like it R to M. I made twice baked potatoes this morning and Hubs is going to have a Salmon steak ( He doesn't wear his store-bought teeth) this evening we'll have a couple Manhattans. Yum. Dottie

Ok, just started dinner: pork chops, sauteed summer squash & onions, Creamy Garlic Shells, and cresent rolls.

Had to either roast or freeze the honey brined turkey breast in the fridge - so, I cooked it.
Neither of us was that hungry, so we had the turkey, gravy, fresh green beans and sliced cantaloupe. I tend to replace potatoes with fruit in spring and summer.

I'm trying to use up all the meat in the freezer, so tonight was sirloin steak, potatoes, green beans, sliced tomatoes and fruit salad. We seldom eat red meat so this was a real treat. Bettye/AZ

Tonight was our school fundraising night at Boston Market. Got off the bus from my 5th graders field trip to Disney Quest at 6:15, came home to use the bathroom and pick up my 7th grader to be at the teacher Talent Show at her school by 6:30 while my 11th grader went and got us Boston Market to eat for dinner at 8:30. Whew-I am exhausted.

I made pepperoni pizza from scratch! It was delicious! 2-nite....left overs! YUM! About 8:30pm, DH makes tea....that's dessert....

I like to cook. I just hate trying to decide what to cook.It seems like I cook the same things over and over.Maybe I should sit down and make out a menu for the week.
