I have posted about some, well, actually all, of my health problems from time to time, the last problem being a blood clot found in my left lung. I won't go back over all that, but just for a few details.

My GP consulted with a hematologist on my case, and referred me to him. I could not have hoped for better doctors.

After treatment had begun, My GP called me at home one evening, "just to check and see how you are doing." I wasn't home; she left a message, and then she called my DD, "just to check." I've never known of a doctor to do that.

For the past 4 months, I have been to the lab for blood work 14 times. I had to have Lovenox injections into my abdomen. I lost count of those, but for the last ones, I went there 10 days in a row, including Saturdays and Sundays. Remember the old song, The Purple People Eater? That's what my belly looks like. After the docs were assured that my blood levels were good and constant, I had the last injection on Thursday, April 10th. Yippee!

I'm on 2 new meds. Time will tell how that will work. I still have some of the same spinal problems, but so far I am able to manage that. I'm feeling good and actually getting some much needed housework done now.

As for the walker and Alert button, I've made my peace with that, and accepted both. I realized I was not being fair to my DD by complaining about them. By using them, unless she gets a call, she will always know that I am okay; there have been no calls so far.

I wanted to tell you what a great hospital, and doctors, we have. All the nurses and staff are pleasant, kind, and caring and ready to share a joke, or a cookie, or tell me about their children, just as though we were friends or neighbors.

I don't know what these new meds might do, but I have high hopes for them. And now that the weather is improving, I might even be able to get back to driving. Another Yippee!

One more thing about our hospital; no, two actually. The CEO, who has been there for 6 years, is . . . wait for it . . . a female!! Our hospital has been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals.

And we now have Valet Parking! YIPPEE!

Thanks for the update. And I love all the praise you're handing out to the medical people in your life. That's wonderful about your GP calling you..........very rare.

I'm on 7 liters/hour of oxygen. My heart rate runs about 120bpm resting. I am in end stage heart failure. I was on Hospice for a short time. I am on blood thinner. I have to be really careful not to get nicks and cuts. I can't do exercise. Doesn't take much exertion to get my heart rate up in the 180's. I am finding new things to do. I have a farm game I play. I spend time with Homer (our dog). I visit the antique tractor forums. I work on getting stuff ready for when I'm no longer here. Things like usernames and passwords. I'm keeping busy. If not, I can go take a nap. Pooh Bear

I hear ya D2G, we all have plenty of those missed opportunities in our homes. I know I have tons! It certainly doesn't make your home any less beautiful! However, I would not draw attention to it with a FP screen, except maybe one of those fold over types Flo mentioned-they tend to stand higher. I also wouldn't buy anything else for the mantle. You don't need to match the art, and you have so many lovely things. I would sooner see your beautiful clock and candelabras, though not "perfect," because they are a piece of your story.

My grafted QS is very stiff. It grew a tall cane straight up over the garage roof totally unsupported. Ramrod straight, at least 10ft. Then it had a giant cluster of blooms on top that opened. Then it rained for 2 days. The whole thing got so heavy the cane fell over and I was scared it would break so I moved the cane into the nearby dwarf black mulberry tree where it is currently resting. Its now growing laterals with the cane bent over. It is in a large pot and has grown into the ground. I'm not dealing with moving it until fall plus I still need to figure out where to put it. I also have 2 own root QS. I got them a yr before the bare root. Their canes are still more flexible. Once the canes mature they get stiff. The moral of the story is train 'em young lol.

The Quince top and the Eileen Fisher top both just arrived. Quince: Nice fabric. Not a handkerchief weight linen but not heavy either. However, the fit is extremely odd. The armholes are HUGE and the body is skinny. It is like the armholes were cut for someone extremely obese whose midriff is model thin. Literally half of the side of my bra cup was visible and I couldn’t get it pulled over my hips. SMH. Eileen Fisher: Loved it BUT…when will I learn to order down a size in EF clothing?!?! The armholes are big, but not as big as the Quince top. The body is a little wide too. Unfortunately, since it was from EF Renew, there isn’t much choice in sizes. I like it enough to consider having it altered to fit. Oh, and the lavender top from Talbots with the interesting neckline also arrived. After having it go out of stock and then be re-stocked, I was skeptical that I would ever receive it. I did and it fits great and looks great! Thanks again, @Funkyart.

Doesn't sound like you are having a lot of fun, but how fortunate you are to be getting good medical care. Certainly your daughter is happy about that as well, and you are kind to think of her and not complain about the walker, etc. even though these things are not what we really want in our lives. Thanks for the update, and keep up the good work and attitude.

I'm happy it sounds like you are doing better, you do seem to have some of your energy back (spring cleaning). I hope your daughter knows she's a lucky woman, that you are kind enough to consider her feelings. Have a wonderful and blessed Easter as you are gaining back your health!

Gee, Sue, I remember reading about the walker but don't remember reading anything about the blood clot. You certainly have been through the mill but glad you are feeling better. You have a wonderful attitude and thats a good part of the battle. Just keep on keeping on. Happy Easter.

Thanks for 'checking in'. I'm so glad you feel you are on an even keel -- after all that intense 'doctoring'.

Doctors -- or their staffers -- have called to check on me after a surgery or procedure. It's a win/win: The patient feels cared for, and it's good business practice.

Hi Sue,

Good to hear that your health is improving, with treatment, and you are so pleased with the people who've been helping.

Perhaps your daughter would appreciate it if you give her a call every few days, at a convenient time, to let her know that you are doing O.K., as a number of our younger ones are concerned that we have something happen and they'd like to offer some assistance, but are unaware. If you have one of those push-button alert systems, that'll alleviate her concern somewhat, but I find that my son likes a call rather frequently to hear that I'm my usual self (and perhaps you shouldn't take that last too literally!).

Thanks to each of you for responding. It means a lot to know that others care, and I appreciate it.

Easter Sunday was a good day, from all aspects. Weather was perfect. We went to my DGD's and had early dinner with them, and later to my DGS's for dessert. I was very pleasantly tired by the time we got back, and I slept soundly all night.

I have an appointment with my hemo-doc on Tuesday, and my GP on May 1st. I think they will be happy with my improvements.

Thanks again, and if there is any news I'll surely post it.

you are so wise in using your walker...the "if only" times I spent when my mother was living and fell at the mall because she didn't bother, and broke a hip! it certainly changed our lives, and in such a sad way...
