crooked pool light

I just had an Intellibrite pool light installed and discovered the niche was originally installed crooked where the screw hole is not aligned in the center. as a result the light is not aligned properly to allow the lense to caste light evenly in the pool.

to correct this I was going to dissamble the light and rotate the lense to align it properly when it is installed in the niche. should i install a new gasket or since the light is new can i reuse the existing gasket?

I have the same problem, the niche was installed about 5 degrees off. I looked at the light (mine is also an Intellibrite) and could not see a way to rotate the light in the housing. Then I considered drilling a new hole in the trim ring, but there's a hook on the housing that has to seat in the niche as well and I couldn't get around that. So mine is installed a little crooked. The pool light level seems unaffected. The only thing that's noticable (and probably only to me) is that if you're underwater with goggles on at night you can see the "rectangle" of LED's is not level.

I think I can rotate the housing within the lense to get it horizontal. I was just wondering about replacing the seal? the light is brand new so I would hope to reuse the existing gasket.

My GR366 has the same hinge setup and door problem -- and there was a heat mark on the left side of the door and it definitely was hotter on left side, and looked askew. After i bought the house 4 years ago, wolf sent their repair service (the only authorized in northern NJ, which is a joke since there is no competition for the repair company...), the technician tightened sone loose screws, but it still wasn't perfect -- bigger seal gap on left and door was lower on left than right side -- and it seems to have gotten worse. I realize now that there is a hinge adjuster on each side of door that allows vertical adjustment -- and technician never did this. Any technician that thinks the door will tighten up with use is an idiot. Furthermore, the unit should be rechecked for level on both axes-- fore and aft, and left and right before the hinge is adjusted. Also make sure the drip tray is fully pushed in and seated on pins the hold it in -- sometimes this gets cocked and makes the appearance of the door look worse.

In fact, if all houses were for sale, theirs would be the FIRST I would buy. Y'all are reading my mind...its uncanny! Sounds like the low water cutoff might be going in the light fixture. Test for power at the light junction box where the light cord meets the hard wiring and see if there is still voltage at the light cord when the light flickers. If so the fixture is bad and needs to be replaced.

All this time I thought it was a sealed unit!! Mine didn't come with instructions, I should have looked them up online and then I would have known I could have done what you're describing!! I just looked them up (see the link below) and they do recommend a new gasket whenever you open the unit. It's probably a good idea even though yours is new because once a gasket is compressed it won't fully expand when removed and it won't have the same "gap-filling" properties as before. Better to be safe than sorry.

Let me know how it goes, if it's an easy fix I'll do mine as well!
