I was stung once as a toddler - I put a bee in my mouth, LOL.

My husband and I have two bee hives at the moment, and while he does most of the work with the bees, I do help out occasionally. Neither of us have ever been stung. We're careful around them, but not fearful.

I got stung once when I was a kid. I was turning cartwheels in a field of clover and landed on a bee.

I also go stung on my tongue by a sweat bee. I should have kept my mouth shut. :)

I also got stung by 14 yellow jackets many, many years ago. They rendered me unconscious. I think I still have a stinger under my scalp. I feel it ever so often.

When I was a teenager....I also stepped on one and got stung on my big toe. My sister and I were chasing each other with water squirters, LOL. I put meat tenderizer on it and it took the pain away.

DH and I both worked for a beekeeper for 15 years. DH in the beeyards year round, I helped extract the honey towards fall only a few months per year. Thats the last time we were probably stung. I've been stung many times and DH more times than he could ever count or remember.
The worst for me was once a bee got between my glasses and face, I was trying to get my glasses off, didn't quite make it. I think he stung me somewhere in the nose, towards the top of it. My entire eye swelled shut! LOL There weren't any sunglasses BIG enough to cover all the swelling. I tried to wear sunglasses 24/7 for a couple days til the worst was gone.

I got stung about 15 years ago,i was standing in line at the commissary waiting for it to open,when one stung me on the back of my neck.So many women came to my aid,and one of them had those long nails and she pulled it out.Once the commissary opened they went in different direction to get ice,meat tenderizers etc to put on it.I just told them if they heard them call for a woman down on aisle5,to check to see if it was me and tell them what happened.LOL
That lump stayed on my neck for over a month.

2 summers ago my DGGD was here visiting and she picked up one off the patio.We thought she had picked up a piece of gravel as dh had just cleaned the fish tank there.Then we saw these big brown eyes get bigger,and tears starting to fall,and we realized what had happened.Can't remember what we put on it,i just know i cme and looked it up on the computor,and did what it said.I still have the bee here in a pill bottle.

Can't remember being stung by a bee!
Was stung by a jelly fish on a beach in Hawaii. That hurt!
Lots were being washed ashore, and I stepped on the tentacles, and they got wrapped around my ankle.
Was on an air force base beach, and a lady came and tended to my hurts with meat tenderizer. Said she always took it to the beach.

Never stung by a bee as far as I know, but was stung by a wasp of some kind last year and I am a little allergic. I was stung by a hornet in the 70's, it felt like man had hit me with his fist instead of a sting.

The last time I was stung I was in my 20's and living back at home. My parents were out of town and the only remedy I knew at the time was to chew some tobacco and put it on there. Well, I tried... but couldn't do it. So I did nothing and within a couple hours my foot had swollen to about 2 times it's original size.

I use meat tenderizer mixed with water to make a paste now.

It's been over twenty years ago. I stepped on a bumblebee and I was barefoot. Remember that I was on crutches for several days as I couldn't put any weight on that foot. It was swollen and SORE and then it ITCHED like a son of a gun!

Last time I was stung by a bee, or some sort of insect like it, I was on my bike. Luckily I was near a convenience store, and could get myself some baking soda.

When I walked in there, I said, bee sting, where is the baking soda. Took the soda and went in the rest room, made a paste, and applied it.

It took the pain right away.

When I got back out, I went and paid, and the store keeper was awed, that I was so calm after getting stung.

Oh, the sting was between the boobs. That is what I get, for riding with the zipper of my jersey part way down. LOL.

It didn't even swell up any.

I have only been stung once and that was when I was about 10 years old. I was driving to Corner Brook with my grandparents and had to go to the bathroom. It was in the middle of nowhere so Poppy stopped the car for me to go into the woods and "go". When I was coming back to the car, I grabbed a plant to help pull myself up over the bank by the side of the road and grabbed a bee that was on the flower. Ouch!!! I just had to suffer it through because, as I said, we were in the middle of nowhere about an hour away from the closest drug store.

I have never been stung and from the stories above I am darn grateful! :0)

I got stung by a mud dauber on Monday night, right on my ring finger, below my wedding ring. I got the ring off before I sausaged up, but it felt like there was a hot needle stuck in my finger. Woody got me some ice as I was gasping ow, ow, OW and holding my hand and the ice did the trick, it felt fine in about an hour and the swelling is almost gone now.

Mud daubers aren't aggressive, but if you squeeze them, they will fight back. (He was hidden in a cluster of vines that I was trying to move.)

I was stung by a yellow jacket last year. They are aggressive and their stings hurt like the dickens. DH gets stung several times a year while mowing the lawn. When we find their holes in the ground, we have nighttime raids. We wouldn't bother them if they didn't bother us....

I was stung by a yellow jacket two summers ago on my ring finger when I reached for MY peach on the tree that he thought was HIS. I was POed to say the least and stomped into the house for the toothpaste. Flouride toothpaste works wonders and I carry it around with me in the spring and summer now. Took a benadryl and went back out to the garden. No swelling, just a red spot that itched for days. I am on the hunt now for nests as the yellow jackets are starting to appear. I killed two nests already and have a third on my radar!!

I've spent plenty of time outdoors, in the garden, and as of this date have never been stung by a bee.

My time will come some day, I suppose.

I have been stung many times, though not so recently.

When I was a kid in the PacNW, we had clover and lawn daisies in our yard..and I swear, I didn't wear shoes unless forced to from the time the weather warmed up until it got downright cold! Lots of honeybee stings!

As an adult, I have been stung by yellowjackets several times. The worst was when the double-wide above us (a very nice one, by the way) was vacant..and we decided to go look in the windows. Guess what..a yellowjacket nest under the steps! And I was wearing very short shorts! Can't count the number of stings, I only know I was quite ill for a couple of days and my leg swelled to twice it's normal size.

Nothing since, except a few black-fly bites, which might even be worse in terms of swelling and itching.

BTW, did you know that a slice of raw onion on the sting will slow the swelling and itching? It really does work, but only temporarily.

The last time I was stung was on my wedding day. We had the whole event outside. During the reception, a bee got stuck in the lace on the sleeve of my dress and stung my arm. I remember it hurting and letting out a little scream, but I can't remember who did what to take care of it. I didn't have a bad reaction, though, so someone must have done something.

Couple summers ago DH and the kids were working outside and stirred up some bees. They all received at least one sting. They were near the back door and all came running inside, which brought in dozens of bees with them! So DS#4, who was a toddler and in the house, got a sting on his ear. DH was the worst, though, he had dozens of bees stuck in his clothes. He literally ripped his shirt off and threw it outside. I was just mad at him for coming in the house! That was dumb! LOL. We found bees everywhere n the house for days! I didn't get stung. The rest of them had some swelling, but healed quick. For a long time after that, when DS#4 saw a bee he would panic and run for help with his ears covered. I know I'm a mean mom, but it struck me as cute and funny every time! ;o) That b/c that's where it stung him, that was his instinct after that- protect the ears!

I've been stung many, many times. Once in awhile by honey bees when walking barefoot, by bumble bees when I have accidently walked over their nests...which are in the ground, and often by wasps that have nests in shrubs that I walk nearby and brush against.

Last time I was stung was last night...in bed. I was stung on the hip. I jumped up, shook out the covers, and couldn't find anything, and a little while later, got stung on my hand.

Again, shook out the covers and couldn't find it. Then I saw it on the headboard of my bed...some kind of a wasp. I
knocked him off the headboard and went back to sleep.

Told my husband about it. He wasn't home. He would have panicked. A friend of his was killed when he was stung by wasps and had an allergic reaction.

Yellow jackets and mud daubbers are not bees, but are in the wasp family. They do no loose their stinger and can sting multiple times until they run out of venom.

A honey bee stinger has minute barbs and once it is used, it pulls out of the bee and stays in the victim. A little venon sac stays on the stinger and pulses automatically continuing to deliver pulses of venom until the stinger is removed or the venom sac emptied. The bee dies after its stinger and been pulled out.

To reduce the effect of a bee sting, the stinger must be removed soon, and care must be exercised not to squeeze the venom sac. Use tweezers to grip the stinger below the venon sac to stop the flow of venon and gently remove.

The last time that I was stung was while I was riding my motorcycle 15 yrs ago. While touring along a country road enjoying the scenery, I took a hit in the neck. Wow, I thought - I've been stung. It wasn't bad, but then a stange thing began to happen: periodically, I'd get a jab of pain. I pulled over and examined my neck in the rear view mirror and there was the stinger with a pulsing venon sac. Once removed, the pain jabs dissappeared.

Stepped on them as a kid a couple of times. Had a few bees sting me in the pool also when we got in each others way.LOL

The very last time was just a few years ago at the county fair. I got stun on the neck and it really really hurt. Prior bee stings didn't bother me. I was a bit worried because it was so close to my head. I went over to the first aid station for ice. The hunky young firemen on duty wanted to watch me for a bit in case I was having a reaction. ;-)I was fine but the site hurt for over a day.

Two years ago, jacket was hanging on back porch and i put it on a bee was in the sleeve. Last summer our Shih-tzu ( Sassy) got stung and she was allergic. A short time after we got her the breeder called us and told us Sassy's mother had died the day before from a bee sting so i knew she may have a reaction too. I'm just called i was with her when she got stung. I brought her in and gave her benadryl right away and called vet. Was told to rush her in right away, by the time we got there her tongue was turning blue. They worked on her quite awhile before she came out of it. Vet said, if i hadn't given her benadryl she would never had made it. Both of our daughters have reactions.

Growing up, I got stung more times than I can remember, because our yard was covered in clover and I was always barefoot!*S*

Last time I was stung was about 26yrs. ago and that time I almost died. He got me on the thumb and within minutes I was itching and swelling all over. By the time I got to the hospital, I was having a hard time breathing. First and only time I've ever been to the ER and received treatment BEFORE they took my name and insurance information!

10 years ago. It was the weekend before my wedding and I got stung in the chin. The right side of my face swelled up so much I looked like the Elephant Man! Obviously, I am allergic. Thankfully the swelling went down before the wedding!

I was stung twice when I was a kid. Once I was riding my bike and got it on the thigh. The other time I was walking barefoot in my yard. Now whenever I see a bee, I head in the opposite direction.

I never have been - almost a few years ago, I felt something on the back of my neck at a garden nursery and wiped at it and came back with the stinger and bladder still pumping but it was laying flat on my finger rather than sticking. It was interesting to look at.

My husband is very allergic to bees, wasps, hornets etc. - we have three bee sting injection kits - here at the house, at work and for when we travel - we get them replaced every two years.
