Cindee, I don't think this will help now, but maybe in the future if you get stung again. I keep oregano oil on hand for bites. As soon as I get bit (usually fire ants) I put the oil directly on the bite. It helps pull the poisons out and really lessons the reaction. But I have found you need to do it right away for best results. I got what I think was a wasp sting and boy did it hurt. I went right in the got my oregano and a couple hours later I was telling my hsuband and I couldn't remember which arm got stung. I could't find it! I also have APIS, a homeopathic remedy, on hand as my husband really reacts badly to bites like you do.

Your post is too cute. I'm no hummingbird expert, and like you I have only recently caught the bug but you have come to the right place! I assure you, if you have planted a hummingbird paradise, as it sounds as though you have, you will most assuredly see them. I just read your profile, or what ever it is called, you HAVE caught the bug!! I live in Florida, and I can't believe the number of people who have been here for years and have never seen one. I've never heard that about Virginia, I also lived there for about five years while hubby was stationed at Quantico and although I miss so much about our time there, I don't miss the commute into DC or the winters. I do miss the fall colors though. Hang in there, you are off to an extraordinary start!

Sally.....I think there were a few pics taken when we had the twins, but Lord knows where they are. FIL passed away 10 mos ago (he was 87) and Momma has boxed everything up to move. They would be at her house if there are any in existence. The twins were born about 20 years ago. Bless her heart, she always hated that house (52 years!) and she cannot get out of there fast enough. She is so cute!

The last time I was stung was on my wedding day. We had the whole event outside. During the reception, a bee got stuck in the lace on the sleeve of my dress and stung my arm. I remember it hurting and letting out a little scream, but I can't remember who did what to take care of it. I didn't have a bad reaction, though, so someone must have done something. Couple summers ago DH and the kids were working outside and stirred up some bees. They all received at least one sting. They were near the back door and all came running inside, which brought in dozens of bees with them! So DS#4, who was a toddler and in the house, got a sting on his ear. DH was the worst, though, he had dozens of bees stuck in his clothes. He literally ripped his shirt off and threw it outside. I was just mad at him for coming in the house! That was dumb! LOL. We found bees everywhere n the house for days! I didn't get stung. The rest of them had some swelling, but healed quick. For a long time after that, when DS#4 saw a bee he would panic and run for help with his ears covered. I know I'm a mean mom, but it struck me as cute and funny every time! ;o) That b/c that's where it stung him, that was his instinct after that- protect the ears!
