This is cool. Two red tail hawks tending to their 3 fluffy white chicks on a ledge of a building on the UW-Madison campus, in real time. Momma (or Papa) is there now.

You're welcome. She's feeding them now. It looks to be a bird by the claw foot. Very interesting to watch nature. I didn't see her fly into the nest with breakfast, I hope she put it out if misery quickly!

The red-tail hawks have returned to their nest on a ledge of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. There is a camera just inside the window. I watched them hatch three eggs last year and all three babies made it and flew away. This year they have three eggs again. I love the owls. What fascinating birds. Awesome!!! I really enjoy seeing this. The winds today and the last few days have been 25-40 MPH and are quite chilly. The chick looks good and well fed so hopefully he is warm enough. It is nice to see the Good Ole Boy Commissioners aren't trying to rid the building of the nest. I remember how many bald eagle, osprey and hawks nests were on the property before the Brevard County Government Center AKA Cow Palace (which is the nick name many Brevard residents use) was built. It was a shame to see them all destroyed. Here is the link to the owl cam direct. Here is a link that might be useful: BREVARD COUNTY OWL CAM

I haven't seen the egg this morning, but with all those hungry babies moving around it's hard to tell. I think she's about to feed them a rat! One of the babies is getting large and more active. Those who have been watching longer than I have say he's about ready to move out from under her wings. As soon as all of them have their eyes open that box is going to get crowded!

Can't believe I've just spent five minutes staring at these scrawny chicks! Fascinating.

I'll never understand how birds can cooperate to put together an enduring nest using just their feet and beaks. (DH and I couldn't wallpaper a powder room together!)

I'm afraid for them. What's to stop them from stepping on the edge of the nest and falling off? They're too young to fly....

Looks like a dead squirrel in the nest.

Oh, fine! There goes another five minutes. At least I got to see one parent up there! Looks like they chose a nice, sunny spot.

We got a lot of rain last night. I wondered what would happen to the babies, but looks like the Mama is sitting on them to protect them. The squirrel and his ugly teeth looks to be gone:)
