Right now she's getting up dropped seed from the feeder---she knows I see her, but she goes on with her work. I respect her work ethic. ************************* What kind of cameras and lighting are used? The cameras are Logitech Orbit AF (daytime) and Agama V-1325 R (infrared, nighttime). There are 4 infrared (IR) LEDs on the camera that are invisible to owls and humans, but allow the camera to pick up an image we can see at night. There is also ambient light from the neighborhood that comes into the box at night. Is this camera hardwired, battery operated, or solar powered? ItÂs hardwired. Can the night cam zoom in? No, only the daytime camera has zoom and is height-adjustable. The infrared camera is positioned lower and gives a different view of the nest. Does the light at night annoy Molly? There is some ambient light from the neighborhood, but there are no extra lights used at night. Molly doesnÂt seem to mind. Are the cameras actually inside the box? No, they are attached to the exterior of the house with a protective cover.

This is absolutely fascinating! I'm hooked! I grew up on a farm, so the real animal drama is not something new to me -but I do hate to see anything suffer. I think you are right, there will be more to teach the little ones how to hunt. The re-gifted rabbit I missed also. I think it was late PST time - I had already had gone to bed. I did see quite a few mice being brought for dinner. I checked out some of the other Live Animal cams - there is an African waterhole cam where you can supposedly see lions and elephants, a Key West fish cam - and a hummingbird nest cam. Who needs The Tudors and Nurse Jackie when you have animal cam! ;-)

Well, I'm going to have to read up on Orioles, and Phoebes too. Wow Lindac, a buzzard! Marlingardener, I'm happy to give your ducks a home during the summer months. It's good to share, you know! No hummers here yet, but they should remember me, so I'm hoping they show up soon. I'm very faithful to put out fresh food for them, even though I haven't planted their garden. I'm just barely moving myself after the winter we've had, and feel a little behind the times. Blueiris, I named ours Henry and Henrietta long ago. They're very comfortable dropping in (literally) and leaving again. It's always a pleasure. Oh wow. I just saw one of the little owls on the owl cam devour a small bunny, the entire hind quarters in three gulps. YIKES.

Jodi,this has been in our paper the last week or so and i forget to go look at it.I live in Oceanside,and i understand there are a couple more here. A couple of years ago one of our weekly columnists set up a camera on a hummingbirds nest outside his bathroom window,that was interesting as well. My #1 son when he was young hand raised an owl from a baby to an adult,also a hawk and a possum.We live on the edge of a canyon and there were always babies falling from the nests. Yes the humane society knew about it,and even saved mice for his owl,and found his possum a couple times when it got away,and returned them back to him free of charge.Both he and #2 son used to help out at the humane society back then,this was in the 60'early 70's before the HS got so uppity,and political.JMO Kathi
