This isn't in Florida, but for those of you who enjoy owls this is an addictive site! Watch Molly the owl and her buddy McGee care for their babies. I started watching today and can't stop!

BE CAREFUL!!!! You will get MOD (Molly obsessive disorder), lol. I already have it. I have seen two of the eggs hatch. The oldest one Max is getting so big now. She still has one more egg to hatch. It is way overdue. I hope it does hatch. But, like I said, watch out for MOD!

Never mind! I copied and pasted FAQ's in case someone else thinks the same thing I did----it's infrared light and doesn't bother her. Guess I can go to sleep now. Listen, I know I fly off the handle--nothing new----it's just that I CARE---with all my heart, I CARE. Ask Little White-Foot Mouse who lives in the woodpile on the deck, just outside the window. Right now she's getting up dropped seed from the feeder---she knows I see her, but she goes on with her work. I respect her work ethic. ************************* What kind of cameras and lighting are used? The cameras are Logitech Orbit AF (daytime) and Agama V-1325 R (infrared, nighttime). There are 4 infrared (IR) LEDs on the camera that are invisible to owls and humans, but allow the camera to pick up an image we can see at night. There is also ambient light from the neighborhood that comes into the box at night. Is this camera hardwired, battery operated, or solar powered? ItÂs hardwired. Can the night cam zoom in? No, only the daytime camera has zoom and is height-adjustable. The infrared camera is positioned lower and gives a different view of the nest. Does the light at night annoy Molly? There is some ambient light from the neighborhood, but there are no extra lights used at night. Molly doesnÂt seem to mind. Are the cameras actually inside the box? No, they are attached to the exterior of the house with a protective cover.

Awww, it's an owlet in the pot! Thanks for the link, Mark. Rachel, We were watching a red tailed hawk nest one year and the next spring I caught a glimpse of movement in the same nest. We took our binocs and hiked out to see the 'hawks' again. The nest was occupied by a GHO family. The mom about scared me to death when I finally focused in and saw her aggravated stare! Our observation is that they will use existing nests to raise their brood. It was a huge stick nest too. Pam

Bird box nest camera. Mine is a "birdhouse Spy Cam" or "Night Owl Nature Cam" I can't believe how much I have been missing! Tonight was the first night without Mom in the box and they are all huddled up together, when one baby moves they all move like they were glued together, they move like one little ball of feathers...ok everybody go left....ok now right..nope back to the left! Once in awhile one will pop out of the huddle to stretch then dive right back in the middle. This is too much fun!

I'm hoping PPO will lay more eggs in that pot this year so there will be more babies to watch. The camera is down now but this will get you to the siet where you can read about them and see pictures. Type in Pot Plant Owl and go to the Africam site. Underneath the heading click on 'More on PPO' That takes you to the links, blog, Facebook, etc. I feel like a godmother to them.

Excuse me, but, I must run as I am sure I'm missing something cute that Molly and the chicks might be doing while I typed this note....LOL!

Okay, Kate....I finally had to go to bed and stop watching Molly and her family at 3am last night!!!! I saw the whole eating the Easter Bunny incident.

Yeah...it's nature, I know, but, McGee needs to learn to deliver dinner that is not still alive!

Easter Bunny...RIP.

I think he'll be delivering more and more live food so that Molly can teach the owlets how to kill their food. Gruesome, but necessary I'm sure.

Someone said he brought her a rotten rabbit this morning and after he tried to give it to her a couple times she tossed it out the door! Don't know if that's true or not because I didn't see it.

This is absolutely fascinating! I'm hooked!

I grew up on a farm, so the real animal drama is not something new to me -but I do hate to see anything suffer. I think you are right, there will be more to teach the little ones how to hunt.

The re-gifted rabbit I missed also. I think it was late PST time - I had already had gone to bed. I did see quite a few mice being brought for dinner.

I checked out some of the other Live Animal cams - there is an African waterhole cam where you can supposedly see lions and elephants, a Key West fish cam - and a hummingbird nest cam.

Who needs The Tudors and Nurse Jackie when you have animal cam! ;-)
