So stumped on what colors to paint my house! would love help...
Comments (25)We painted our house a Porter Paint color called Sea Sand, with shutters painted a black called "wrought iron". The roof was estate gray. I absolutely loved it, but boy did I chew on it before having it done. We even bought a small can and painted some here and there, but it didn't do the final effect justice. Any landscaping you do, whether greenery or flowers, it all just POPS against the yellowish color (although is is not really yellow). That house now has more curb appeal than it ever did when it was white or gray. Every time I drive up I am so thankful for my choice, because it did what I wanted it to do. A happy color! There is also a color called Umber Shadow (old Porter Paint color) that is the perfect color to paint concrete porch floors. It is the color of wet concrete. I love the idea of painting the porch ceiling a watery blue/green! Have fun with your house! It can really drive you nuts though!...See Moredark teal green carpet, baby's room, what colour paint?
Comments (17)just for grandbabies... they bring a pack n play playpen for now. I may eventually put a day bed in. I really wanted a butter yellow but with the carpet I really don't know. I don't have a good eye for these things. I have some nice wall hangings with all the pastel colours so they will tie it together and look fine no matter what soft colour I go with....See MoreSo sad about my cabinet color-- so yellow
Comments (35)Ironically, none of these opinions of your cabinets' color are worth the time it took to type them. Monitors resolve colors differently, no matter how "true" they claim to be. Even "true" is different in peoples' eyes, because EYEs make colors different. So to you it's too yellow. I agree with taking a door back to wherever you got it and comparing it to the sample. If it's different, you might have a leg to stand on about changing them. I don't get the designer "letting" you have a color, as someone mentioned. The thing is, and we warn against this in every. single. discussion about paint color: you cannot choose a color without living with a large sample in your own lighting. White is a color. Just because it's painted on a door, doesn't mean you shouldn't live with it for a while. Some know this because it's my own oft repeated color story: attempting a gorgeous, gray/green color. Found it perfectly several different times. I painted at night. LOVED IT. With each color choice. However, in direct sunlight, it appeared teal or turquoise. Seemed my windows had a protective coating on them, which created a blue light. Those cabs not in direct sunlight remained the beautiful color(s) I'd chosen. I eventually settled on a cream with yellow it in, because combined with the light from the windows, it became sagey/green/gray. Go figure. Anyway, you don't have to live with it. 1) Change your lighting 2) Change your paint 4) Change your back splash Paint them Have them replaced. 6) Don't look at them. Reface them...See MorePlease help! Carpet or wood flooring? What color paint?
Comments (6)thanks so much for the feedback, everyone! Patricia, I totally agree about the tv height but we bought a cool tv mount that will allow the tv to swing down over the mantel by 28" to lower the height for viewing. We tried configuring hte room as you suggested, but because of the massive French doors on the opposite wall that swing into the room, we can't really put the tv on the wall that you suggested. The room -- despite being fairly large (15'x20') - is actually really strange for layout and furniture placement and it just makes the most sense to mount the tv over the mantel. We lowered the height of the new mantel as much as we could to meet fire code and hopefully the new mount will lower the tv height to a reaosnable range. Also, the pic of the "before" that I attached was mostly to show the space of the room. I took that photo the day we closed on the house. Those ghastly Roman shades were gone in a flash! all of the seller 'swindow treatments were terrible! lol I'm going to further investigate the hardwood floors this weekend. If you have a suggestion of a grayed green paint color, I'd love to check it out!...See More- 10 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
