4 and 7 year old grandsons are with us as their parents return from Napa today. At 6:15 we started with Easter baskets. I put them on the kitchen table to try to contain the chocolate mess the 4 year old makes.

DH will meet DD half way to return the boys in an hour or two. In the meantime, DIL will ice the cakes she baked yesterday, and I will start the ham in the oven and prepare the au gratin potatoes, cornbread and asparagus for dinner this evening. We will eat at 6pm so DS and DIL can return home for a decent bedtime to be ready for work tomorrow.

It is nice to have family visit.

Waiting for relatives. Having appetizers here, then it's out to a favorite restaurant for dinner. Bake here for dessert.

Last night I made lemon cookies. My arm was tired from mixing the dough. Had to get DH to finish up. I almost considered making these cookies today and am glad I didn't. I made them once before and my sister was over and was helping so I didn't remember the work involved.

Ooh I can just smell the ham and taters...
My husband doesn't like baked ham...so we never have it.
I grew up with it..and au gratin or scalloped potatoes....mmmm who doesn't love those? Lol
I'll probably make some today to go with our meal.

All depends on regular Sunday.

For me, regular means riding the early morning coffee ride, coming home, making a sandwich, eating, and heading out to weed or something in the yard.

Except

when it rains.

Today I stayed home because of a bit of rain. Not enough to do any good, but got the streets wet several times.

I spent to much time online, but did get the sheets on the guest bed, and the laundry put away.

Now still need to chase the vacuum through the house, and I will be ready for next week.

No Easter celebrating family near me, and I just enjoy myself in my own world.

Well, drats! We were planning a fishing weekend but poor Robert has developed a bad case of gout. It's a glorious day here, so I'll prop him up on the patio and we'll do some grilling. I'll take the backgammon board out there ; we enjoy playing.

Those eggs sound good. I think I'll add some to our menu tonight. I'm marinating chicken and will saute some yellow squash and zucchini and fix some yummy rice.

He's been drinking some sort of apple beer lately and I know that's triggered this attack. I tell you, though....that beer was some good stuff and I hate beer. Tasted just like really good hard cider, to me.

Lol..oooops...Poor Richard!

Over indulgence is the problem with Gout...not fair..
I hope he gets his system flushed out quick and the pain and swelling subsides soon!

Moni, sounds like a productive Sunday.. I prep for the week ahead too.

Well now I'm thinking cheesy risotto...guess I should see what the pantry holds.. Before deciding..the less food I have to move the better.. ;)

Guess it is a typical cooking Sunday, with a name. Having leftovers is the best part. The beach was fun, now better get busy.

Gout - plenty of sufferers don't overindulge, and plenty of overindulgers don't suffer from it.

Underindulging does help it go away, but don't extend conclusions from there.

Nothing! I did put groceries away earlier.
We decided to go out to dinner and our neighbors are going with us.
To the Yacht Seafood boat restaurant for a steam pot of King crab, boiled crawfish, and boiled jumbo shrimp, soooooo yummy.

Thanks, Snidely..but she did state that he had a few to many of the yummy apple beers... And many I know have that as a trigger to their gout..well to many beers in a short amount of time...another friend is Mt. Dew...all it takes is one..and off goes the pain and swelling for him..and a good many days at that.

Chicken's are on the grill..I can't wait to start smelling them.

Cake has been frosted and filled and is chilling. Lemonade concentrate is cooling. Still haven't decided on risiotto or potatoes.

Ran over to the new house with Lisa to paint the second coat on the areas we scraped, primed and painted yesterday. Looks good.

Doing the usual Sunday laundry too.

I did Easter brunch for 16, everyone left around 3pm, so now DH and I are exhausted and my kitchen is officially closed for the night. I have no idea what we will eat for dinner.

Son, his lady friend, and grandson joined me for church.

Came to my place for a lovely Easter dinner.

A relaxed and most enjoyable day!

I started out going to church. We have coffee fellowship afterwards and I had signed up to do it. I ended up feeding over 75 people. I had made ham salad, cheese ball and crackers, chips and 3 different types of bar type cookies. Then went to our daughters at 4 to eat. Wonderful day!!

Matti, I have packed exactly two boxes. Lol...

I went with risotto.. Chicken carcasses are in the stock pot..
And everything is cleaned up and put away..
