PebbleTec Tahoe Blue vs. PebbleSheen Blue Granite
Comments (6)I'm in total agreement with you about green! Green = algae = not in my pool! Our plaster guy was really pushing Tahoe Blue, not sure why, although I got a hint from one of the installers that it might be one of the cheaper mixes. Anyhow... After looking at many, many pictures online and talking to people, I found that Tahoe Blue definitely has a bit of green to it. I'm guessing it's named after a lake because natural bodies of water are green-blue because of plants living in them. The ocean only looks pure blue on Sandals Resorts commercials. ;) We were between Midnight Blue and Tropics Blue and ended up using Tropics Blue (Stonescapes mini pebble) and we really like it. I think it's as close to a true medium blue as I've seen in a pool. It's dark enough to capture a little bit of heat but light enough to see the bottom clearly, and it has a really beautiful shimmer when the sun is on it. And we really like how the actual pebbles look where you can see them on the steps and in the spa. It's a really nice mix of colors. Now at some moments it might have a touch of the windex-look you're talking about. Thanks for that, by the way, I was calling it Kool Aid! But overall, it's a really nice, rich, shimmery, medium blue. I suggest that you search online for images of the exact color names you're looking at. Look at many pictures and take in the whole range. Don't just focus on one image you like because there's no guarantee of how exactly it will look in your pool, in your yard, with your sunlight, etc. Good luck!...See Morepebble tec pebble sheen problems
Comments (21)I know this is an old post, but I am having a similar issue with same pebble plaster pictured in the original post except mine is already 12 years old. This year, I had the pool acid washed. The acid was diluted propery from what I know. The pitting isn't really terrible, a lot of pebbles come loose apparently when you acid wash, but the discoloration started to appear mainly in two small areas over the course of the season. I have never had a plaster issue before. My pool guy insists that it's not the acid wash - and maybe he's 100% correct - but I have no other explanation. Yet. I bought an underwater camera but haven't yet developed the film. In the meantime, can any of you here shed light on acid washing pebble plaster. I've read a lot of posts where pool experts warn against it. My pool guy assures me that it's a lot of chatter, and, that done right, acid washing pebble is fine. I treasure this guy, he's hard working and honest. It's not a good spot to be in. I just want to figure out what is going on....See MorePebble Tec Problems???
Comments (19)If you could message me at lauriebfla@verizon.net. If you’ve had issues like this. We have a high end pool done with darkest PT finish finish. Doing chemicals daily and taking water sample to two different locations twice a week. Weve documented this for two full years so we have something meticulously to stand upon when they claim we aren’t taking care of the pool. The pool has spotted whitewashing regardless of acid washing and balanced chemicals. We have a 150k pool that’s only 3 years old and the calcium buildup in pool creating the white wash of pebble tech in over 75 percent of pool etched our glass tile leading to replacement after one year. After tremendous research , We finally realized that a chemical was added to the cement to speed up hardening process of pebble tech installation which has been causing the chemical reaction therby creating scale secondary to high calcium content on daily basis. (Via chemical reaction). We use An extraordinary amount of acid per week and regardless of maintenance , scale immediately returns a few days later. I have to believe the frequency of the acid wash isn’t doing the pool or tile any favors. We’ve kept a two year journal to go back and forth with the invalid claims they may come up with to try and put it back on lack of maintenance or external elements such as temperature of water, rain, shade or lack of care. We do not have a pool man. We do it daily and at same time. It is not out of line to expect a 150 thousand dollar pool to look like a 150k pool less than three years later and I Challange anyone to step up and claim they do a better job than we do when it comes to proper and meticulous maintenance. We won’t allow pebbletech to turn away from this problem. It’s a large amount of money to have this style and type of finish . I expect a company to stand by their product or we will take the next step toward ensuring the problem is fixed....See MorePlease help! I need to choose a Pebble Tec pool color!
Comments (2)The color of your pool is going to vary tremendously based upon sun exposure and depth of water. What does your PB recommend? They have a good idea of results due to their experience. My PB advised me how each "sample" would read, gave me his opinion on the most reliable color, and let me put samples in a water tray at the baja depth level. We are very pleased with the final result but did not try to aim for a preset color. Good luck!...See Moresdkath
