Honey, he can buzz me any old time he wants to. Just wish I hadn't had bed head! :-)

He really does love Ocala, Joan. It's because people leave them alone for the most part. His wife shops at Target and Walmart according to the article. In the article it said the new baby (Benjamin) gets more attention than he does when they go out.

Ravencajun, he was in the smaller jet this morning. It was all silver.

So that was my brush with fame for the next century or so!!

He's a cutie, that's for sure.

His house seems excessive though.

My first year out of college, I taught at Anthony Elementary. The most famous, well at least most respected, person in town was Miss Brazell, the principal of the school!

So, if YOU were a pilot and wanted your planes accessible, what would YOUR house look like?

Honestly, I wouldn't want to live that extravagantly...it just isn't part of my outlook on life. So, if I was a pilot, I'd use the local airport. ;)

I really loved Welcome Back Kotter and so I really enjoyed seeing all of the gang on the TV Land Awards. He seemed really happy to be with everyone again. He seems to be a good guy, very loving with his wife and family, I respect that.

Hey, if I had the money to live that lifestyle I wouldn't mind giving it a shot!!!

Using the local airport would probably cost more than building your own plane garages. Not to mention, Travolta would have to follow the airport rules and regulations.

It's sort of like if you own a boat and having a choice of either renting a boat docking pier, built one of your own, or just haul the boat back to your home.

When I look at Travolta's home, minus the 2 plane docking units, it doesn't look as extravaganza as many other celebrity homes. It's quite a modest home actually ;o)

I was thinking of excuses that Travolta and his family could not use, such as:

"I lost my luggage"
"The plane was delayed"
"We missed our connection"
"We got bumped..."
"We had to go through security before we were allowed to board"
"The cost of bringing extra luggage was outrageous"... oh wait, forgot, he has money.

LOL... anyone else wants to add to these?

I can't imagine an 8900 sf home being modest LOL.

My only question - is it noisey? I would imagine it would be but what I mean is it noisey often? If it were, I'd hate to live near him. But if it only happens occasionally, then I wouldn't mind it.

But if I were a pilot and had the money for it, I'd do the same thing.

I grew up in a small town, and people used to buzz their home to let the famiy know they were home, in their single engine plane. That was in the late 50's early 60's.

When I lived in Tucson we'd run outside so as not to miss the huge air Force jets flying over our house almost touching the roof tops how exciting!!!

It's a fly-in community, so I imagine there are quite a few planes. They probably all figure the noise is the price they pay to live there.

It looks like he tries to use his assets responsibly and to help others.

Years ago, I was at staying at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. I was waiting on the elevator to go up to my with another woman who was very pregnant. When the elevator came up from the lower floor (where the pool was) there was a frazzled looking young woman with a small boy and a baby in a stroller. The boy was crying and not very happy. His mother laughed and said he was mad because she had made him leave the pool. She was trying to calm him and telling him that his daddy was waiting on them and they were going to order lunch. She joked with the pregnant lady about how this is what she had to look forward to...we had a good laugh. Apparently, in the confusion we had not pushed our respective room floor buttons. The next thing I know the elevator opened to the Penthouse floor. Standing there was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. You guessed it, John Travolta was getting ready to get on the elevator. He spoke to his wife and told her he was just coming down and to join them. Little did I know I had just ridden up on the elevator with Kelly Preston and her children. He was very friendly and said a few words to us. I never saw him again on our stay but, I certainly did look for him every day.

I've heard only good things about John Travolta, how friendly and gracious and "normal" he is. Did you see him surprise Kirstie Alley on Dancing With the stars a couple weeks back?
