so much help needed...window treatments

First, I apologize. I'm a long time lurker, and an admirer of the talent on this board, but I've only posted before when I need help...and this time is no exception. I really am sorry to be such a mooch. I wish I had more talent to offer up.

I'm stumped on window treatments. I have a wall of windows in the living room (see pics below). What colors/patters might go here? What style of window treatment? I'd love to be able to find something off the rack, since I can't sew, but I'll outsource if I need to!

I wanted to post pictures of my kitchen and dining room as well, since all the rooms are visible from one another, but I don't know how to make my pictures smaller. Thank you in advance for any suggestions...

You have a very pretty, calming room! Very pretty moulding around the windows! Looks like you already have blinds for privacy.

You could do draperies and run the rod beyond the windows so that when fully retracted, the drapes do not cover your windows. (That would be a pretty wide rod, though--you would need to measure and see if it's feasible.)

If you did a pattern for drapes, you would want to use a large pattern. Your room is pretty neutral right now and might look pretty with a pattern-drape. :)

Thanks for your suggestions!

We do have the blinds for privacy, but the room seems bare and unfinished to me. I love the idea of panels, but the problem I run into is that the sectional is up against the wall on that one corner; if I were to pull the sectional away from the wall, it would then extend beyond the half-wall seperating the LR from the kitchen.

I agree that whatever pattern I choose needs to be a pretty large scale. If only I could figure out what pattern!!

With how nice your home looks and what appears to be a good amount of window frame depth I would, if I were you, install interior window shutters. I'm a huge fan of plantation style, but traditional shutters would look amazing as well if you prefer smaller louvers. If you prefer stock size panels you may want to check into www.shutterland.com. They have great shutters, both Traditional and Plantation. Also, they come unfinished, so that really keeps the price down. Verticals are definitely dated. What do you need? Privacy, light control, room softening? Looks like those three in the front room may be jalousies. True? Is the other one a slider or windows? We'd be more help if you'd remove the verticals so we can see what kind of windows you need to cover.

You need local on site retail or design help. Call an HD dealer. There are many options far superior to metal blinds. They will also install.

I think eclectic can be fun but it needs to done well the thing I dislike is the TV above the FR that wall unit you have could easily have been reconfigured to have the TV above it and the shelving part somehwere else. IMO the sofa at least needs to fac the TV I can’t figure out the reason for th yellow pattern or eaven the style of the chairs You have kind of a MCM vibe going on and those chairs are not and that clock belongs in an entry hall Normally I would do drapes but with no space for stackback by the door I think nice roman blinds might be the answerIf you need sun or heat control the some inside mount solar shades and outside mount roman blinds maybe if the chairs are a done deal then introduce that yellow in the fabric for the romans

Have you looked at the JCPenneys drapes online to see if anything appeals to you?

Why not just do a valance across the top - then the couch won't matter. We have that same issue with our sectional and our half wall. We've got a very similar set of windows in our kitchen, and honestly, I hate to cover up all the molding around the windows.
