I'm loving the cream color. It's really soothing.

In the breakfast nook you could but 3 nice bamboo shades, for privacy. It will also tie in the darker colors from the dinning area.

This is what I would do with the nook.

1 long (matching with the dinning room rods) rod.

hand a pannel at the ends and in between the windows.

so it would take 4 pannels for the window behind the breakfast table.

For the sliding door. Same rod and matching pannels, you can just pull them open or closed.

I'm sure the redish brow (rust) color will look great. The green color from before was nice, but it only washed out against your dark cabinets and furnishings.

Yeah, love what graywritingdog suggests and I love your paint colors. I would do something with the breakfast nook ceiling lights. A couple of pendants (or one) would be nice.

Would you suggest that I put a matching rod and panel in the Dining area also?

I tried to follow up your question but it was rejecting it. It says I had already posted a follow up? I had followed up to a previous one, but not yours. Do you have any idea why I wouldn't be able to submit? I'm new to this and this has got me stumped.

Anyways, the color is a bit similiar, but this one is much lighter. The original color had much more brown in it. This one brightens up the room so much more. I am really liking it.

Bamboo shades are wonderful, but you would need to have them down for privacy, and that is going to seriously decrease the amount of light coming in. I would use Silhouette blinds instead. Or a really inexpensive idea: sheer white cafe curtains on the lower half of each window.

I would do a cornice of some sort over the windows in place of floor length panels in the nook. It looks like the dog feeding area, and I would keep fabric away from the area to avoid water splash marks (and worse) on the bottoms of the panels.

Yes, I think sticking with the same curtain rod is key in tieing the two areas together. I wouldn't stray off with differnt curtains with an open space like yours. You could do a cornice or a valance if pannels aren't practical in your home.

yes a new fixture over the breakfast table would look nice. It appears that the existing list is centered over your table already.

You could go either way with the effect, matching fixtures or something a little lighter in style to match the breakfast nook table.

If you were going with the white table in the other post I would get red chair pads.
I love your space. It will look very pulled together and polished when done!

Graywings - thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't even taken the dogs into consideration. That's why all of you are so great! Maybe panels wouldn't be a good idea afterall. The dogs are in that area quite a bit and shed a lot. I can imagine the hair on the curtains already. :( Got to love them though! Maybe a valance with cafe cutains??

The "real" decorators around here would know the rules better than me, so this might not be proper. But, I was thinking, since your windowsills are so close to the floor, could you do panes but only make them as long as the windowsill? That way, you could get the look of a panel but they wouls be out of the reach of the dogs. I think that since the room's not so formal I would like it OK, but others might not.

Does anyone have suggestions for places to buy window treatments? Would like to try to buy pre-made ones if possible, rather than having them custom made.

One valance or cornice board across the three windows, another one over the sliding doors. A valance and cafe curtains would look very nice. I would use three separate cafe curtains each on its own tension rod - super cheap and super easy.

JCPenney is the first place I look to for window treatments.

It has a wonderful basket weave pattern. It would be nice to use that pattern in the space. The glass globes are very close to your paint color.

Graywritingdog- my DH is loving it. I think I am going to try to make the accent wall a little more red as you had originally suggested. There is a just a hint of too much orange IMO. I think the light that you suggested would look GREAT in that area. I can imagine it already! Getting excited. I just really need to get the window treatments to tie everything together. That is giving me a bit of a challenge, but I am going to go look at them tomorrow to get some ideas. I am sure it is going to look really nice when done, especially once I get a new breakfast table. With how nice your home looks and what appears to be a good amount of window frame depth I would, if I were you, install interior window shutters.

I'm a huge fan of plantation style, but traditional shutters would look amazing as well if you prefer smaller louvers.

If you prefer stock size panels you may want to check into www.shutterland.com. They have great shutters, both Traditional and Plantation. Also, they come unfinished, so that really keeps the price down.

I've dealt with them quite a few times and they are a great company when in need of quality shutters.

mhanna - I love the shutter idea. The only reason I was deciding against it was that I don't get much sunlight as is. I would like to allow as much light in as possible.

Glad to hear that your DH is liking it. It make the job so much eaiser when it's not a fight to get what you want! It's gonna look wonderful.

klavr - I really like your granite. When I was choosing granite I was deciding between new venetian gold (which I eventually chose) and baltic brown. When I went to the granite yard they didn't have a slab with a lot of the "green eyes" and that is what I liked about the granite and the piece had too much feldspar (pink) in it. I am surprised the green paint didn't pull out the baltic's green eyes. I like how your cabinets blend with the baltic. Just beautiful.

I don't have a suggestion on window treatments bc that is something that will be one of my next projects. One at a time..... LOL

hoyamom - Funny you said that about the green! The main reason I thought the green would look nice was because of the "green eyes" in the granite. Unfortunately, it didn't. Instead it made the room look very drab. Most likely due to the darker cabinets, dark furniture and the fact that very little sun light gets in. I am loving the lighter color though. I have changed the accent wall to a redder tone and LOVE it!! The red color really pulls out the color from the granite. Can't wait to get the window treatments done. I think it is going to look really nice when finished.

klavr, no need to worry about lack of sunlight coming in with Plantation shutters. Those bad boys let in so much light you won't even realize the panels are close agasint the windows, but leaving the louvers in open position for lighting.

Traditional shutters have much smaller louvers with tighter spacing between louvers, so not as much light makes it through.

I honestly think you'd (even though I don't know you) like Plantation shutters. Maybe just try putting them on one window at first to see if you want to get more for other windows?
