Call the vet asap - could be too many things wrong to be diagnosing him yourself.

I don't know, but if he was mine I would call the vet again and see if he has an emergency number. If not look in the yellow pages for pet hospitals, vets on call all night, etc.. I think any of the would give you advice without charge to help an animal out.

This is no time for home remedies...call the vet or get another one asap!!!

I don't want to scare you, BUT my brother had a male dog neutered and he came home later that day. DB called the vet and told them something is wrong with Gus, they said oh no he's fine, give him time. Well, that night poor Gus died at 3 am! Oh they were SO upset. But around here there is no other choice but to wait til morning or drive 2 hours. My brother wished so badly he had not listened to them.
I have no idea what went wrong with Gus, and your cats problem could be way different and nothing more than pain...but I would check it out with another vet if you can.
I hate to see an animal in pain also. Poor thing.

First thanks ALL who posted.I did called and no answer.I have always loved our vet but now I am disapppointed in what has happen.Ashley paid 108.00 for all the work on her cat and now poor cat is not feeling well,crying in pain.Some of the neighbors said "Oh well the animals are really touch and yes give him time.But I am like nodakgal said I hate to see them in pain,and that is really I ran here.I know you all have big hearts for animals like we do.I am waiting on the Emergency clinic to call back.I am very upset as you can tell and I feel we should have been told what to do for pain and I feel the vet should have gave something for pain.I will post back soon as I can and give a update.Thanks and Hugs Judy

Normally, with a neuter or spay job, the animal doesn't need painkillers afterward, so I'm guessing it's his leg that hurts. Hopefully the vet can give him something for the pain! Is he walking on it?

I think they usually use the disolvable stitches these days so there is no need to remove them. Double check with the vet though...or that kind of info should be on the paperwork they give you while you are there.

We recently had to have our male cat's tail cut off. We had them neuter him at the same time. I asked the vet if we could give him anything for pain and he said no, he said he could only give the cat one pain shot for the tail amputation, and that he couldn't have any other pain meds. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but I don't know what it is. Thankfully, our cat was fine and didn't appear to be in pain.

I sure hope Ashley's kitty feels better soon!

Poor thing. Hope you got some help. It must be torture listening to him cry. I can't believe the vet doesn't have an emergency line.

I would be calling the vet, if he is closed there should be an emergency number to call. I wouldn't try to self diagnose the problem.

Don't give any meds without the Vet's approval. I doubt the pain is from having him fixed. It's a really good thing that you neutered him. The pain is probably his leg.
Can you let him outside supervised in the future? Cat's can get injured being let outside alone.

Okay I am just now getting to post back.First I am not sure if I can answer all the questions.Let me say I am sorry if we did something wrong.As some of you know there is no way we would do anything on purpose.Noone said that but I just wanted to add this because we did not make right decissions and we thought we could take our vet's word.We have always used him.
The reason Otis was out he ran out when Ashley went to work,I was not up and Ashley did not notice this.He has a litter box.So you can see this could happen.Than once Ashley asked me was Otis under my bed,I said no I thought he was on your bed.He loves laying on the back of the couch.So we started searching and Greg said he heard some noise out side and he said the neighbor's cat was out there.I asked who was he fighting with.Not even thinking the worst.We all screamed and took off.We are still sick over this.
Anyways now yesterday the Emerency Vet looked at him said the reason it was swallon was due to the infection and said yes he was on the right antibodic.He said like Kathy & Jennmonkey said.They did not recommend pain meds.Also that our vet did right.We are still taking him back today tommorrow if he has not improved.Greg even asked if we could wrap the leg so all that stuff draining would not get ever where.We walked around cleaning it so it would not get on things.Thanks so much for ALL your help.Please do not think we are bad mommies to Otis.
Oh yes I asked why did he think our vet did not have a emerency # and that vet said if he did I would not have a job.We just shook our head.I said I still think my vet should have a # to call after hrs and weekends.But when we did call our vet the answer machine picked up and said if you have a emerency call so and so.I will keep you posted.
