Why not tumbled marble subway tile?

Or is that what you are comparing the crackled subway tile too?

That is pretty..I like it a lot!
I was comparing the smaller tumbled tiles , the ones that were in style a couple of years ago. The 4x 4, rustic looking tumbled marble.

ohuuuhhhhh. I think those big rustic tumbled tiles are on their way out too. JMHO. But do it if YOU love it!

I would hate to get them and they are already outdated lol. So the tumbled subway is out too than and anything tumbled, or rustic is past its prime huh?

I adore subway tile, and am having it installed in my new home. I could give a rat's fat fanny if it goes out of style...in fact, I kind of hope it does! It is disconcerting to me that my taste is lining up so much with what is on-trend. :) I put subway in my old kitchen 6 years ago, and loved looking at it every day until we sold the house. What do YOU like the look of? What is the style of your kitchen and your home? What are your cabinets?

I think they'll stay as long as the mastic holds up.

I was also told the tumbled trend is over. Subway is the shape of the tile and has been around for a hundred years. I considered tumbled but beware that some in the beige tones can turn pinkish. After making one mistake with my backsplash (white tiles had a grey tint to them) I did not want to make another. I wound up with Grazia Rixi crackle. I love it.
As many of us here can tell you, the backsplash is the easiest thing to change out in the kitchen. Get what you love now and feel at ease knowing you can change it down the road if you feel you need an update.

Jillsee, if you love them you love them. Get them now, while they're still in and you have a lot of selection to choose from. Your appliances will date your kitchen anyway. Stone is stone. It's one of the first building materials ever used. While this particular treatment might have become stylish and might go out, it's not going to be avocado green out. It's going to be almond out. As in looks fine because it's pretty.

As to subway tiles, they're rectangles. Real subway tiles are 3"x6", straight edged, plain white ceramic tiles. Anything else is a play on subway tiles, inspired by subway tiles, etc. Rectangles in 2:1 ratios are one of the most pleasing shapes and have been used since people learned to split stones and bake bricks. Will they be out? Maybe. Above the knee little black dress out as below the knee little black dress comes in. But then it'll be back again.

If you like them because you've been highly influenced by pretty magazines for the last 15 years, do some looking in older books and magazines, as well as online, to see if there's something from another era, that's been out long enough to be a design inspiration rather than dated. See if you like something as well or better that doesn't follow a trend. If you don't like anything better, do what makes you happy. You'll be happiest in the long run that way.
