Comments (25)Hi Peke i guess I shouldnt be shocked others are putting up with this kind of experience probably everywhere these are sold! i understand your the wife in the house, after blowing $900 on this and noticing the wet dishes, I actually get up early to open the dw, so wifey doesn’t realize the poor decision I made, coupled with the fact I was a certified appliance tech!, I ended up with a different career, but still. i noticed when shopping for dw’s, some the brands were recently adding doors that “popped “ open at end of cycle. my impression was, hmmm, why? never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Bosch removing the heating/drying elements! And forgot to mention in my first story, the fan/ventilation system standard on all machines is ALSO removed. im sure some engineers got a big fat bonus in their paycheck’s for saving the company $$$. the mongural brands I steer clear from AT LEAST have the door pop open feature to assist a little drying dishes . well, I’ve gone on too long with this, the fact that it’s already installed is what stops me from returning it. and you bet Bosch is betting on that. I installed mysel, most people will spend in addition to the dw itself, $200-$300 for installatio! which practically guarantee’s you won’t be returning. gotta go, got dishes to dry....See MoreDoes your Miele dishwasher really dry your dishes?
Comments (18)I've had 2 Miele DW over the last ten years, one when I lived in Southern California and one that I bought when we moved to Virginia, and have never had trouble with wet dishes. Like other posters, I sometimes have a few water drops, but not enough to have to leave anything on a counter to dry. I did wonder when I moved east if the Miele wouldn't dry as well in a more humid climate, but it hasn't been a problem. Comments (6)Been there. The ugly old Whirlpool from the early '90's that came with my house did a sparkling beautiful job of it. I miss that DW. Not the ugly part, but the rest of it. Six years ago,. I was led down a primrose path by a new Viking that looked to be well designed and had a "hot air blower" but turned out to just kind of breathe on the dishes rather than drying them at all. The tech said he had lots of complaints, but that it was working the way it was designed to. Viking took it back. I ended up with the Monogram, because it was close enough in price for a direct swap at the store, and it has a heater. I don't know if the newer ones do. So, on the regular cycle the dishes come out wet. It has options for added heat and heated dry. Then the heavier dishes come out dryish. Add plastics cycle, and the dishes all come out dry--but that might also be because I changed to Method Smarty Dish tabs. They have a certain amount of rinse aid in them, I think. Not enough to make the glasses taste soapy. The old Whirlpool cleaned brilliantly with the mildest detergent and no rinse aid. I have to be careful not to put things in that have bits of food on them, because they won't come off. Goo, yes, but a little piece of lettuce, no. AJMadison shows some Whirlpools, as well as a GE and a couple of Amanas (though Amana is a subsidiary of Whirlpool), with heated dry options. They're probably all older design models. Comments (36)I use a dish drainer at my camp. No dishwasher. It was given to me by my daughter because she didn't like the color. Usually there is just me and hubby and we don't generate many dishes either. I prefer my dishes to air dry. The drainer I have has a longer lip part that drains the water into the sink. I seen some like that on Amazon made by Farberware. I do have to elevate the back part of my drainer. I use a 2 1/2 inch high long little wire basket from the dollar tree. Works fine....See Moreelba1
