Help me choose an entry set

Looking for design suggestions for choosing an entry set.
Attached is outside pic of home. Contemporary 80's design; however, interior has many natural warm finishes in large open spaces - slate and wood floors, large stone fireplace, oak railings on open stairwell and catwalk in entry foyer, etc. Door is currently white - image has been edited to depict (gloss) black door with light metal (stainless or nickel) finish.

Due to width of entry (2x3' doors plus 2x2' windows = 10+feet wide) I'm thinking a full escutcheon is appropriate with more contemporary, i.e., rectangular shape. Grip could be contemporary or transitional. Tubular lockset.

As example, thinking of Emtek sandcast is white bronze full rectangular as a transitional choice:

Thinking a more contemporary choice would be Emtek Orion in satin nickel:

Not married to any particular brand, etc. Really looking for suggestions.

I like the second one in satin nickel. Your house is great--- I think contemporary styles are very easy to live in.

My only reservation with the 2nd choice is it may be a bit too contemporary. The white bronze finish of the first has greater depth and is warmer. I have also found out that I can substitute a "D" shaped handle for the depicted more colonial handle on the first.

I have included an interior picture as one enters the house for reference.

It looks ok to me from the pic, but that is a weird perspective. I like that the new light more closely matches the size of the mailbox. In general, I look for a grid for alignment. The top of the light looks like it almost aligns with the top of the trim. It's ok if it aligns with the bottom of the trim. It is probably ok wherever it is. The top of the mailbox I originally thought should be lower. If it's easy to temporarily remove the mailbox, I'd try it top aligned with the top of the trim, or the bottom of the trim. Or 2/3 overlap could be ok. Then you have the flag. So I would just play with the mailbox position so you have the right amount of space for the 3 items.

I think slate or a porcelain tile would be what you need. what you'd want to do is somehow feather it into the wood tile so it doesn't look so choppy. these are porcelain and come in a variety of colors. you could bring in a few planks of your real wood and feather them in and around the entry area to obtain this type of look or try a black or gray or cream porcelain hex tile. Again, you'd cut your wood to receive the ends of the hex where they transition. the entire bathroom would be the hex, you'd only to this where it meets the wood. or,,,a basic porcelain, 12x24,,,(tilebar.com) or a black slate.

RUGS! Need help choosing entry rug and runner! What are the rules?!

THE RULE Is don't make a second post!! Go to a real carpet store, ask to see stair runners that come in 36 inch widths.Have it made to the length you need and backed with non skid. Or look at area rugs in 3 x 5 for the entry if that fits.. No doormat sizes. Ready made runners will be too narrow for your space No to the rug under table. You need an 8 x10 and I doubt that fits. Nothing is far better, than a too small rug.

I would suggest you use a rug that covers more of the foyer area...perhaps a tufted wool with and oriental pattern that sort of fits with architecture of your home...a smallish pattern with varied colors will hold up to entry traffic better than a solid...and at the same time a small runner can be purchased in the same color and pattern...I am not sure it needs to match the other rugs ...as the foyer seems big enough to be considered a separate room...with out pictures it is hard to be sure....but the foyer is the introduction to your home and sets the expectations for the rest of the house

No idea where to get them, but I'd love to see the large escutcheons that are a half moon on each door so they make a complete circle when the doors are shut...I think the round softness would be a nice compliment to the angular lines of the structure....

One set I am looking at is the 'Brighton' in white bronze. In line with the half-moon comment, perhaps the soft curves on the top/botton of the escutcheon softens things up a bit....

I have used Photoshop to create images of the home with various entry sets we are considering and am looking for feedback on preferences. I will post a series of picture, please let me know what you prefer or don't prefer and any other feedback.
