I think it's good that he wasn't trained by another gym.
They can "mold" him to this club's ideal trainer, right? lol

I've been wondering and hoping and praying and wishing for good things for your DS. Would they interview him for so long and two people if they weren't interested???? Oh, let's hope! Did they say when they would call or let him know?

How soon will he know if he gets the job?

well, they have 3 more interviews this week with experienced
trainers. They said he really "knows his stuff",and he was really good about motivating them to do more than they thought they could.

She said he needs to be louder and a little more "personable". She said he needs to talk to the "trainee" about things other than the training session. He is a huge (6'6" 275 lbs muscle), bald head, and could be a little scary looking to some I guess, and he is very quiet! LOL and Shy. If he makes it past this interview, they will have one more practical interview next week. He should know by Monday. He's not a talker, schmoozer, (totally opposite of me! lol) so that will take a little work, but I know he can do it. Man, I hope he can get the next interview!

His whole life, he has had a hard time making a lot of friends. He is like his Dad, after they speak with some one, I will ask them something like, "how is their job hunt going?" Or, "What happened to their daughter that was in the hospital?" and both of them will say, I didn't ask, if they wanted me to know they would have told me! LOL For years I've told them, no, that's not true. You need to ask questions for people to know that you are interested in them and their lives.

DH went out duck hunting ALL season long, many years ago, with an old friend (that we hadn't seen or heard from in a year). Then 3 weeks later I spoke with his wife when she called to tell me she had her baby. uh, WHAT? I didn't even know she was pregnant. Neither did DH! lol OMG>.. I asked him what exactly did they talk about out there for hours, oh, hunting and fishing! sheesh! lol

That's just men, isn't it, Kat? They are just not very good at finding stuff out sometimes!

Kat--practice with him. Do some role playing. Pretend to be one of his PT people. Does he have a sense of humor, is he willing to do this? Or practice interviews--ask hard questions like "why do you want to work here,what are your personal goals, why do you like PT?" have him practice smiling and making eye contact. If he resists, tell him a KTer said to do it!

thanks sock! "She" is the hr person that will do the hiring, or have a huge say in who is hired. She watched both training sessions. The "trainees" both work there, on in office, and the male is a trainer.

Couple of things that might help--take some courses in public speaking, join a Toastmaster's club, practice in front of a mirrow, look into sports medicine rehab, etc. Wish him the best.

has ds helped you during your medical stuff? it might be nice if he could relate that during interviews...shows he can handle other issues besides the normal trainee...

and you're right about his appearence...i'd figure he'd be a man's man, so to speak...
