Thanks Les,great suggestions. I will try to do a quick switch of the love seat and club chairs and post a picture.For now my DH is planted in front of the TV watching a ball game. I don't think he will budge until after the Super Bowl so moving furniture right now isn't an option. You are correct that I was trying to "fill up space with the end tables. The club chairs are small as well. Do you think part of my problem is the scale of my furniture? Our old house had such small rooms that I avoided oversized furniture.The current space is so much different than what I am used to. Should I be looking for new couches instead? or maybe two overstuffed chairs? I'm trying to recycle as much furniture as possible but I do want this room to be perfect since it is the first thing you see when you walk in the door. Here are a couple of pics of the club chairs. As for the rug, I recall that you had made that suggestion in my post about our fireplace. I thought that was a good idea at the time and that is actually something I plan to do but it is a big job. The rug is extremely heavy and I am having a hard time convincing my DH it will be an improvement . Maybe we can switch the furniture and move the rug at the same time. Do you think I should center it with the window. If I do it would be several more feet farther from the fireplace.Will that look OK? Your memory is good. I did decide I wanted to put sconces on my mantle and that is when I lost my way. I started looking at sconces and found several hardwired ones I would love to have. That is when I begin to toy with having an electrician come into do the wiring. A small project was turning into a very expensive project. To add to my frustration the hammered brass lamps that I bought for the end tables on either side of the love seat interfered with TV viewing so I moved those up to the mantle until I can find a better home for them. I am accumulating a store room of bad lamp choices so I'm trying very hard to find uses for some of the things I've been buying. Can you tell I am in over my head? I have been so impressed with all of the talented people on this forum that I am hoping you can help me find my way. Thanks so much.

OK, thanks to everyones pictures, comments etc, I have decided to eliminate the glass tiles. Can't believe how quickly I finally did that. The marble is timeless, goes with any paint color, it can be traditional or modern depending on how it's used. Now I can start driving myself nuts on which marble, what pattern etc. lol By the way, the lighting in my house is horrible where I always have a hard time with paint colors. I got that blue/gray sample yesterday. Is it a go or should I look for something else? It gets to looking really blue when the lighting gets darker or at night time. gooster, I forgot to mention that the big sample sheet I had made up yesterday is Chantilly Lace for the cabinets, so it looks like I'm on target for the cabinet color.

Mtn, there are no photos on line of the fabrics and I tried to take a photo of the swatches but I could not get the light to show the differences correctly. Re: Mitchell Gold - I love their furniture. I have purchased a lot from them over the years. I first learned about MG in 2000 b/c they used to make sofas for Pottery Barn and I was asking about the manufacturer. That sofa has been moved around over the past 13 years but is still going strong! olychick and holly-kay - thanks for weighing in! I think in my heart I knew the velvet was the right choice, but it is more monochromatic than the other fabric which has a little striation in it. snookums - that kind of feedback is just what I was looking for. I can't stand purchasing furniture that doesn't wear well. I will definitely post photos when I get the piece in.

Thank you, straw. I think Khalid also grows the Cl. Crimson Glory. That one is a 'for sure' purchase. I really want CS, but may put it on a fence to make dead-heading easier. I think I've eliminated Felicia and Blossomtime for now due to sun issues. I really just want them all, but it's too much $$$! : ( I'm planning an arbor, but don't know how soon I can clear out that area, so I'll just wait and maybe get those along with parade later, but shipping is a killer. mad gallica on the antique site said I couldn't grow anything on a north wall, but I'm going to try anyway. ARE says Ballerina and Belinda are good for shade and while not as fragrant as I usually like, I can plant others in the front of this very deep sloped bed. I'm more interested in their health. I also decided florentina may be too red and clash with CG. I'm aslo getting Barcelona for the front so that's another colour to deal with. I think it's easier to mix cool pinks than any reds. I'm also getting Gruss an Aachen, Bolero and Molyneaux for elsewhere.
