I see a grouping of art on that wall. Are you going to put some accessories on your sofa table?

Do you like abstract art? I can see a huge, modern piece there. I like the juxtaposition of something like that with your furniture. Lovely colors on walls and couches, btw.

It's such a pretty space! Are the two lamps we see a matching set? I might try moving the one on the end of the couch to the wall end of the sofa table. Maybe even both of them (one on each end of the table), but not sure without seeing it if that would be too much. That would leave the wall space visually undivided so that you could more easily do a large piece or a grouping of art pieces. It would also give you light at both ends of the sofa.

Lamp spoils the sight line from the vantage of the photo (they may be good from other places in the space) in terms of doing one large piece. Your room is quite neutral so something more vibrant and dramatic could be a big asset to the room. Are we talking actual art or wall decoration?

Thanks for the quick replies! The lamp next to the wall is what is throwing me off. I could put the lamps on the sofa table, but there would not be any place to plug them in without having a cord stretched across the space.

I am glad a grouping of items was suggested as I was considering that. I have a large mirror. Would that be too distracting having it beside where people sit? I could hang other items with it.

I also like the idea of something really large there as well. Would the lamp be in the way?

It is very simple for an electrician to put in a floor outlet under your sofa for you to plug in the lamps on the sofa table. Looking at your living/dining areas it seems logical that you will always have furniture of some kind there to divide the 2 spaces, so a floor outlet will come in handy no matter how you configure your furniture in the future.

Some wouldn't do it, but if I couldn't afford a floor plug, I would run the cords of the lamps down the leg of the table with tape to hold them in place, then to an extension cord under the couch and plugged into the same place you now have it plugged in on the wall. you wouldn't really see it and it would be out of the way.

I was looking at your before pics and see both lamps on the sofa table. If they are too tall to use on the sofa table, maybe switch out the one by the couch for the ginger jar lamp back by the chair and put the taller one in that corner. Just an idea to try, if you can solve the cord issue.

You could use a much shorter lamp there to get rid of it blocking the view. However, it seems like a piece of art centered on that wall might not work......... that wall is basically the dividing line between two different rooms, right? (Yes, it's a great room... but the way the furniture is.... it just seems divided.) I would be confused about what to put up for that reason alone.... :)

Personally, I would do a grouping of mirrors.... Something hung like these "Garden District" mirrors from Ballard: I'm not sure if the dimensions on these particular ones are right for your space, but I think something similar could work and look very nice.

I like the idea of a smaller lamp on the table as I would really like to keep one there. Lolauren, the mirrors are beautiful! However, I am really in need of some color in the room. I very much like something like this one that I saw in msrose's post.

I would remove the sofa table from behind the couch and put it on that wall, with the two buffet lamps that are now separated in the space, and then hang one large mirror or art piece above that.

The end table that is on the left end of the couch will have to be moved elsewhere.

I would also switch the placement of the chair and side table/lamp on the other wall, so that the chair tucked into the corner a bit more.

Down the road, a nice leather or fabric ottoman that can double as a coffee table might be a nice addition.
