I can't believe anyone can have too much space in their garden - if so, i want to move to their place! My biggest problem this last year was the peppers. We had a really cool spring, and I planted them out too early and the darn things never forgave me for the insult. I also got a huge aphid infestation last year and I suspect it was because I did not have enough bean teepees up (again I screwed up on the timing of getting out the pole beans). Usually the lady bugs like to use them for their nurseries, so I am going to hafta make sure I put out lots of bean teepees this year. I planted a bunch of cosmos and that did pretty well as a trap crop, but I was an unhappy camper for about 3 weeks late spring last year. Glad to hear I am not the only one who can't seem to make enough compost (or get the timing right on stuff!). I am an avid lasagna gardener, but even layering leaves and grass clippings and straw year round doesn't keep up with the veggies needs (we have no soil here - just a couple inches of clay over caliche). I buy my compost from a local shop that is organic - top dress twice a year and side dress as things seem to need it. every time I hear someone talk about the importance of double digging I hafta laugh - when we need to dig a hole in our yard, we hafta rent a concrete chisel. Even a posthole digger won't touch the caliche. No way we can double dig here!

Does that really make sense? That this glue can only be used on sheet vinyl but not Peel N Stick (vinyl) tile because it won't dry? Isn't the key word 'VINYL'? Either way you have a solid piece on top of the glue. I would think it would be harder to get it to dry under a huge sheet of vinyl as opposed to tiles. DH didn't use the Roberts stuff but it was vinyl adhesive from Lowe's (I think it was called Henry). I only had like a couple of places that the glue came up on the side a bit and it was when he first started and wasn't sure how much to use. Yes, mineral spirits will take it off! That's what our glue said to use! I just couldn't remember because it's been about 5 years since we did the flooring jobs!

Good post. When I first started rooting figs, I put one in a container, not realizing the container was black and would attract heat. The poor little fig stayed alive, but only had 2 leaves for 3 years! Finally a friend told me to douse it really good with water, like 3 times, then put a diluted miracle grow over it. Then cover that black pot with foil. It was a miracle. I was frying it's roots, and didn't know. The little thing finally grew. It is now a big tree in ground. The best thing that happened was the tree did have FMV, but after the root frying ordeal, the FMV is gone. There is research on that topic, but I'm not into that, so all I know is, "It is what it is."

I've repeated some too. I think that sometimes I think it's bad circumstances rather than a bad decision - but when I get the same result twice from the same action (or inaction), it finally filters in *LOL*

Sometimes.

Sometimes it seems to take quite a while for the lesson to sink in.

Usually, I do. I'm a common sense, logical person, and tend to think things through thoughly. If I happen not to, I will learn the second time around. No thirds for me. I do have several family members who NEVER learn from their mistakes and keep screwing up over and over again.

I try to learn from other people's mistakes, especially my older siblings. For example: pregnant at 19, speeding tickets, bouncing checks, using drugs.

I've also learned from a few of my own mistakes. Now I won't buy a used car from a stranger, I don't eat giant hamburgers after 9:00 at night, and I don't lend money to my younger brother. :-)

I TRY to learn from my mistakes, and usually do learn, but often, especially when my heart wants to help someone I wind up a repeat offender. But I'm getting more hardened in my old age.
