Learn from my mistake...

As I researched how to do a lighting plan the one consistent guideline was to place the recessed lights above the edge of the counters. That's what I did, the lights were installed and everything seemed fine. Until the cabinets went in, that is.

Although most of my uppers are 13" deep, two are 18" and the fridge is built in. As the installers were getting ready to put up the crown molding the cabinet guy held up a piece at the ceiling and showed me why 3 lights would have to be moved at least 6" away from the cabinet or the crown wouldn't fit.

So the lesson is, when you're doing your lighting plan, take into account how far your crown molding will be angled out from the cabinet face.

If any of you have made a mistake you'd be willing to share it might save someone time, money and aggravation. Think of it as a public service announcement!
