my little Gizmo....R.I.P.

hi everyone.....

We had to put our little guy down yesterday.

He was the last of the 3 I had. We lost his two "brothers",

Rex and Jazz, last year.

This is the first time I have ever been truly alone in this house. All of a sudden it seems so big, and too damn quiet.

Ritamay, my heart goes out to you because I know that empty and too quiet feeling after saying goodbye to my last little soul mate, Stash.

Your sweet Gizmo was a pretty boy. R.I.P Gizmo.

Judy Jay Rhiannon is the name of a Celtic spirit and we got it from the Fleetwood mac song Rhiannon. It is pronounced Ree-an-non. DH and I were teachers at the time and that was one of the few names we could come up with that didn't bring up memories of other kids. Nicole, Peyton might look older but she is such a munchkin, she only weighs 25 pounds at 2 and a half. She is just a minature little munchkin. LOLOLOL...The squirrels have been horrible for me too in area I didn't think to put repellant....They are eating strange things..Mines sit on my fence eating my Lilac leaves and the other day my Roses, stems and all? Did they come from another planet planted by aliens this year? Just NUTS...lol Thank God mine don't touch my Citrus, although one did get stuck in my greenhouse and chomped on my Orchid bulbs...Then drowned in the pond in there...

Ditto with Dave - this is a first I've heard that "forks" killed a tree. Maybe several dozen that severed ALL the roots? Oh well, bummer. I'd give it a chance to recover if the branches are still green. Recovery takes time, so be patient (6 months - 1 yr). Cori Ann, you can grow ANY Grapefruit in Livermore. you have the warm nights in mid summer that will sweeten the fruit up. And that is the key... where south Texas has those warm nights early on that sweeten the fruit by February March, our cooler spring delays the ripeness until late June/July or even August. Having said that, I just had an Oroblanco for breakfast yesterday morning.. and a Redblush this morning. the OroB has sweetened up and NICE (first decent crop - took 3 years). The OroB doesn't get ripe until late February / March in Danville. The Redblush I had to harvest because there were too many on the branch (looking like a grapevine) pulling it to the ground. The Redblush in years past has not colored up until July so I am waiting to see if this years' crop is the same. An alternate to the Oroblanco is Melogold... I can report back on those over the next week. Costco had dozens of Oroblancos last month... I might check their Concord Garden Center later today and report if I see some. BTW: I scored with a Rio Red on C35 earlier this week in Danville !!!! : - )

I meant, ON THIS trip.....did you get the vibe it felt like home, you didn't want to leave? Or...did it feel foreign...barren...too open? For instance...in Bali...everyone was on motorcycles and it was just too 3rd world to feel like home. Australia...if felt very comfortable. St Maarten it felt like people were staring at us, sizing us up. Fiji, felt like we'd entered a civil war zone. Two peoples, on the same island, at unrest. Yes, I knew what you meant. That's what I meant too. I think Iceland would feel very comfortable... every bit as much as Australia, for example. I can't identify with your other comments. Bali ---we could see living there. It has a thriving expat community and more Aman resorts per capita then perhaps anywhere else in the world; not what I think of when I think about lesser developed countries (unlike other parts of Indonesia). I can't really identify with your experience in St Maarten either. Of course, having a young family, that's all been theoretical. And I would never buy a second home outside the US; too big a financial risk IMHO.

Oh I'm so sorry. I posted something on your pic of Gizmo. Please believe me, I know how it hurts. I know the eerie quiet, how it feels to look in favorite resting places and find nobody there.

My deepest sympathy, I lost all of my kitties now too and I miss them every day. I do feed a family of feral cats from the forest behind us, and at least I get to admire from afar and keep them fed.

So sorry about Gizmo. Losing a pet is horrible, but to go through it three times in so short a period would be very hard. My old guy turns 14 on Monday, and I just hope for a peaceful passing at home. Every day he wakes up is a surprise to me.

RitaMay so sorry for the loss of you beautiful furbaby. I lost my one and only furbaby in Jan. I know how much it hurts. My house feels empty too.

Aw.....Gizmo is beautiful. I, too, have been there many times, and know how hard it is.

Your house needn't stay empty for long....I know it's an individual decision for sure, and not everyone wants to get another pet immediately, but doing just that has made me feel better on numerous occasions over the years. April is cat/kitten adoption month at our local shelter, because they have so many this time of year. I'm just sayin'.....

Rita, I'm right there with you. Just 3 months ago I lost my Lottiecat. I still think I have to watch not to step where her food and water dishes were, and sometimes a shadow makes me think it is her. I miss her on my lap, patting my face with her paws.

I feel for anyone who doesn't have the capacity to love and nurture a pet.

I'm so sorry, Ritamay, Gizmo sure was a handsome kitty. I too pity those that don't have the opportunity to be loved, and owned, by another critter.

Please consider taking in a shelter cat or kitten. when you do, you save 2 lives, the cat you take and the one who takes its' place in the shelter. Do it in memory of your 3 babies.

I am so sorry for your loss. Last weekend I had to put my kitty Jack down. It broke my heart. And I lost Ernie last year. I feel your pain.
