Did Anyone Get an Easter Gift?

We are not big on gifts at Easter. I did make noodles and give two bags of them to each daughter and to our granddaughter. I did receive one card, a cross necklace and a can of pond fish food, from our oldest daughter and her husband. Did any of you receive an Easter gift?

My husband did...He bought himself a new tv....

I wasn't happy about it...

There are a lot of things we need a whole lot more than a tv.

Oh well, it made him happy.

tenderlee, Now I know how to discribe myself!!! I am a sissy!! LOLOLOLOL I admit it completely. I am, I am, yes. I was helping to do a major landscaping reno. when I severly hurt my low back. I was going to a doctor for 11 years who did not believe in back surgery. He sent me to his Dr. friends who did not believe in surgery. The chiropractor ruptured a disk in my neck so now the top and bottom of my spine was messed up (two years of traction got the neck back in shape). I had 24 hour a day pain. It wrecked my entire life emotionally to endure that pain without relief (I dispised pain pills and called them 'drunk pills that did nothing for the pain'). I took myself to an orthopedic doctor who simply said "I can fix that". I almost burst into tears. He indeed fixed the spine (while the anestisiologist almost killed me) to where I only have muscle pain when I do too much!!!! After a day of too much activity I walk a little bent over. I cant sit in certain chairs for very long and stuff like that. But chronic pain is maddening. And now I am a little insane but not suffering. lololol I indeed do not find this getting old thing very amusing. I hope I can 'buck up' for the long-haul. Going to the doctor "sucks big time". I ended up with 'white coat syndrome' (fear of doctors, needles, and hospitals). I'm talking 'fear, fainting, and trembling'. Totally sissy!!!! I am always praying that I die in my sleep, at home, on the porch swing, 72 degrees, soft wind blowing, dappled sunshine, the smell of roses wafting in the breeze, doggies cuddled close by, Righhhhhhhhhhhht. lol susie

Anyone thinking Valentine's Day or Easter yet?
Q
Comments (20)
I'm packing my Christmas things up now . . . actually yesterday, today, tomorrow and probably Monday, too! I am starting to think a bit about Valentine's Day, as my b'day is the 4th and DH's is the 8th. I dress the table in that mode for 10 days straight, varying it a bit. I don't decorate for St.P's Day since DD's b'day is the next day (March 18th). I just decorate to suit her current whim then. Easter is too pastel-ish for me to even think about right now. If I can ever get my house back in order and my table dug out from under all the decs, I'll stick with gold, silver or copper with crystal or wood for the rest of Winter (except for my Valentine's decs). Maybe with some pops of red, white or black, but not at the same time . . . I HATE red & black together! It reminds me of casinos and gambling, which I'm not opposed to, but don't participate myself. I don't even know of anyone with a gambling addiction, but for some reason I've always really disliked that look. Obviously, the Ratpack Look doesn't do a thing for me! ;^P Lynn

Easter Dinner and a gift from Brenda

Shelley, you know you are ALWAYS invited, just knock on the door and come right on in. (grin) That goes for everyone here. The food was good, especially the salmon which Elery cooked on the grill. I could have lived without the store-bought cupcakes, LOL, but Mother brought them and who am I to turn down a gift, especially one made with sugar. (grin) We do usually have fun, we all manage to get along pretty well pretty much all of the time. That means everyone recognizes my authority as Empress of the Universe, LOL. Cathy, she's sure getting big, isn't she? I've been invited to her very first school concert in a couple of weeks. She's excited and tells me that she's going to sing "B-I-N-G-O". ROFL I'm sure it will be wonderful... Annie

Do You Like Getting Gifts Gift-Wrapped or in the Bag
Q
Comments (37)
As long as I didn't have to clean up the mess of the shredded paper, I didn't mind wrapped. I kind of enjoyed wrapping gifts. But I do think it's a waste of money and other resources. Better to use the comics or something. You can get creative in wrapping. My sister was the first to start using bags and cheapo that I am, I'd save and reuse them. We'd give the same bag back and forth. Now I use the reusable shopping bags more and more for gift bags. It's an extra gift in itself. As far as what I'd prefer to receive? An envelope. Stuffed with cash. Large denominations. As I've said before, THERE'S a thoughtful gift! You may wrap it in money if you want. Or use cash for the tissue too if you like. Christmas is approaching. Feel free to send anytime. It's cheaper to ship too!

Gifts for Easter? I've not heard of that (except for Easter baskets for the kids). Is that new? The origin of gifts at Christmas is the gifts that were brought to the baby Jesus; that custom carried over from that. But I'm not aware of why gifts would be given at Easter. If you do, that's great if you want. I've just not heard of it.

I believe mine were more like hostess gifts actually, from people who I had invited to dinner.

Nope, but we celebrated our anniversary at our favorite restaurant. Eloped 44 years ago during my spring break. I was teaching, DH was in graduate school and on the air at WLW.

We always exchange gifts at Easter. Usually a plant that can be later planted. Easter lilies are popular. But we have given trees that were planted and still growing. I went to a craft fair in early spring with my sister 25 years ago and bought her a tray for deviled eggs. Every year since then I have bought her an egg dish for Easter. She called me the end of March and said enough! I have 30 eggs dishes. I made trays of cookies for friends, grew these funny 'egg' plants for kids in my life, and made little carrots for others. Maybe it is just a family tradition.

I think gifts can be given any time of the year, I give my kids things every once in awhile. They may not be big gifts but they are gifts and my kids do the same for me.
