I think I like bags, but will take a gift wrapped or bagged if you have one for me!

I'm with you, jasdip. I think there's a little bit more anticipation when unwrapping a gift vs pulling it out of a gift bag. However, I've used gift bags for giving gifts, too, but usually for the more "token" gifts. I don't know how to describe what I mean because each gift is given with affection, but somehow I think some gifts deserve more time and attention.

For me, I'd rather open a wrapped gift. But I sure wouldn't turn down or be hurt by a bagged gift.

In a bag, wrapped or even unwrapped! Greedy, greedy, greedy. Only kidding. LOL

I can't remember the last time I unwrapped a gift, be it Christmas, B'day or other. If I had my preference, it would be a wrapped gift, but admit to going the bad route the past few years. On the rare times Hubs got me a gift, over the years, he would just hand me the gift in the bag from the store.

It doesn't matter to me. I go about half and half when I wrap gifts. It depends on the shape and size if it is wrapped or in a gift bag. But when I do put gifts in a gift bag they are wrapped in tissue paper first then I put lots of tissue paper in the bag and have it sticking out the top so it looks pretty. Not just a present thrown in a bag with no embellishments.

I have never been a fan of wrapping gifts, so the bags were great for me. I do wrap the item in tissue, though. Most of these are gift cards. One year, I put the card in a Christmas mug as part of their gift. Well, actually, I was trying to get rid of my excess.

I enjoy a gift anyway it comes. Bagged, wrapped on unwrapped.

Either but I have been bagging it so to speak. But I wrap all the gifts in colorful tissue paper and then put them in a Xmas bag.

Doesn't matter to me but for giving, wrapped. I love wrapping gifts, I'm one of those that has to put ribbons and bows and ornaments and holly....... For a couple of years my RA preveted me from doing what I wanted, so now I think I over compensate! LOL!

for my poor hands these days I go with the bags, it is also easier for me to open the gift bags too. I have 2 gifts that will need wrapping and I can not do it so I am waiting for hubby to do it, and waiting and waiting ....

Either is fine....but I do keep the bags.

Actually, in preparation for Christmas last Sunday, daughter being up from AZ, I had some odd shaped ones to wrap, so it took some time to fashion a cardboard box around them, them wrap them.

The one that daughter got for her (November) birthday was not only wrapped, but had a ribbon tied so that it went over two corners ...

... and we were going out to dinner with a couple of her long-term (female) friends right after ...

... and she put the ribbon in her hair to go to the dinner.

That one was a book, and with the notation on the flyleaf, I'd written, "November (more or less) 2010".

Next day, her Christmas gift to me was on a piece of paper ... so all that needed was an envelope ... actually, there was an identical one for her brother ...

... so we were instructed to open them simultaneously.

How do you like that for instructions as to how to deal with a Christmas gift?

Well it's the thought that counts so either is fine. But I must say my preference is a nicely wrapped gift. It's funny. I was at a gift exchange just the other day and I picked a a small neatly wrapped gift over the large bags. i remarked to my seatmate that not only do good things come in small packages but a person who takes time to wrap probably put more thought into the gift also. I scored. It was a very nice leather wallet opposed to all the probably regifted bath stuff and candles in many of the gift bags.

I love picking out gift bags. Some are so pretty, but I do prefer to unwrap a gift. Just more exciting!

It doesn't matter to me. I wrap all my families gifts but I often use gift bags for gifts to friends. And I save gift bags that I get to use again.

I havbe tons of gift bags. I re-use them. Just make sure the old gift card is off. Last year I bought a new cell-phone. The bag it came in was white and gold and I used it as a gift bag for a Christmas present.

I prefer the wrapped gifts.

I used to love to wrap gifts. Then dh insisted that Santa doesn't wrap gifts. Until Santa stops coming, I won't be wrapping many gifts.

A Wrapped gift wrapped or bagged would just embarrass me now. I don't get gifts as such anymore since we stopped exchanging.

I use to love them any way.

One of hubs very good friends didn't believe in buying wrapping paper. He always "wrapped" gifts in aluminum foil. And my former mother-in-law always used plain brown butcher paper.

As long as some thought went into the purchasing/making of the gift, I don't care how it's presented.

DH is wrong. Santa wraps his gifts in special Santa paper that is never seen on any other gift. It is magical paper with Santa's picture on it. Santa seems to have a bit of an ego. ;-)

I LOVE to wrap gifts. I dn't care how I get them

I DID buy some really really cute HUGE gift bags from
the dollar store, I stuff them with tissue and
put under our tree. It's so festive. When you give
away all the gifts you wrap, it looks bare uner there!

I'll take it anyway I can get it. LOL Actually, I prefer the bags, but this year I have something kinda big, so I'll be wrapping that. We all re-cycle those bags. I have a ton b/c when I taught we got a lot of presents from the children and they tended to be in bags, so I rarely have to buy any.

Many years ago I went out with a guy for about 3 months. He had 2 kids, and he put the gifts under the tree, unwrapped. He said then that Santa never wraps the gifts.

I thought that was so weird and certainly takes the fun out of it.

I preferred wrapped gifts, but don't mind bags. And the bags are so much easier to re-use so there's less waste. But I do enjoy wrapping gifts, even though it's only birthday gifts that I wrap now. (We don't do any gift exchanging at Christmas anymore.)

As long as I didn't have to clean up the mess of the shredded paper, I didn't mind wrapped. I kind of enjoyed wrapping gifts. But I do think it's a waste of money and other resources. Better to use the comics or something. You can get creative in wrapping. My sister was the first to start using bags and cheapo that I am, I'd save and reuse them. We'd give the same bag back and forth. Now I use the reusable shopping bags more and more for gift bags. It's an extra gift in itself.

As far as what I'd prefer to receive? An envelope. Stuffed with cash. Large denominations. As I've said before, THERE'S a thoughtful gift! You may wrap it in money if you want. Or use cash for the tissue too if you like. Christmas is approaching. Feel free to send anytime. It's cheaper to ship too!

Guess he'd need some more of that invisible paper to re-wrap (in case they didn't haul him off to jail for sneaky, nefarious packaging).

I remember a Christmas a long time ago I had seen a picture in some magazine of a white tree decorated in green ornaments, it was surrounded with gift boxes wrapped in green foil paper with white lace and white crochet doily's with miniature green glass balls in place of a bow. I thought that was so beautiful, I got busy and crochet a slew of white doilys, bought white yards of white lace, little green glass balls and green foil paper. I didn't have a tree like the picture, but it was pretty and what a sight to see those beautiful green and white packaged under the tree.......I forgot about one thing, BWAAAAA....THEY OPENED THE PACKAGES!! That was the last time I ever did something dumb like that.

It doesn't matter to me which I get. But I use mostly gift bags to give gifts in. They are a lot easier for me to use and I just cann't handle paper to wrap presents that pretty anymore.

It doesn't matter to me. At my house, I hope it doesn't matter to anyone else either. I wrap very few gifts. I went to really cute bags and boxes a few years ago, when I had just had carpal tunnel surgery. Now...all gifts go in them and under the tree.

For years my Mom had a very difficult time wrapping gifts with her arthritic hands. About 20 years ago I made pull string Christmas bags of all sizes. I hate the amount of paper wasted during the holidays and the expense. We do stuff the bags with newspaper so there is the hunt for the gift and I also use the holiday themed boxes from the dollar stores.

I loved seeing wrapped gifts under the tree and the excitement of unwrapping but I'm also enjoying not spending the money on paper that gets tossed. I do wrap gifts for friends or use lovely paper bags with tissue.

I am honestly of mixed feelings on this one. I like either.
