My finished kitchen (lots of pics)

I finally got around to taking pics of my kitchen. Unfortunately, I lost my nice camera during the renovation so these pics are taken with my old Blackberry. The quality does not do the kitchen justice. Anyway, here are the details:

1)Kitchen designer - The Cabinetry in Hingham, MA (Marlene was awesome to work with)

2)Contractor-Bob Burr Remodeling in Carver, MA

3)Cabinets - Perimeter cabinets by Medallion style Potter's Mill in Divinity. 2 Islands by Medallion, style Potter's Mill in Cherry with a Wheat finish.

4)Refrigerator - Thermador built-in 36 inch - paneled

5)Oven-GE Profile

6)Cooktop - Thermodor 5 burner

7)Hood- By XO

8)Trash Compactor-Kitchen Aid - paneled

9)Dishwasher - Kitchen Aid (we already had the DW)

10)Microwave Drawer by Sharp

11)Sink by Artisan - love this huge modern double sink

12)Faucet by Grohe

13)Pulls by Atlas - Sutton Place in Polished Chrome

14)Knobs by Atlas - Sutton Place Square Knobs in Polished Chrome

15)Counterop-Polished Colonial Gold Granite

16)Pendants over large island from Lowes (can't remember make)

17)Light over small island - by Solaris

18)Backsplash-White subway tiles by Oceanside glass in iridescent color Oxygen.

19)Backsplash color tiles - by Sonoma Tile - Style Vihara in Kahuna - iridescent tiles

20)Counter stools by New Pacific style Dylan in Creme. I need 1 more but this color has been discontinued.

21)Paint Color-Walls are Benjamin Moore in Feather Gray; Trim is Benjamin Moore custom color to match cabinets.

22)The legs next to the sink and on the island were ordered from the KD. Not sure of who makes them.

I think that covers it. Again, the pictures are poor quality because my phone takes poor pictures.

The word that comes to mind is "soft". I think your palette and look is very pleasing and calm.
I like how you worked the accent tiles into the bs and the hardware is also a nice pick.
I really like the layout and separate island with the glass doors. The sink cab bumpout is a really nice feature as well.
I bet you will really enjoy your new kitchen with all the natural light you have. It seems like a happy and comfortable place to be ;)

Thanks for your kind words. I wanted it to be a place family and friends wanted to spend time. I don't even sit in the rest of the house.

Thank you!! mtnfever - thank you for the link to soft close - I almost wish I didn't have it on the appliance depot drawer -then no one would know how nice it is! motodetroit - I inherited the piece on the side cabinet from DH's mother (I couldn't believe his sister didn't want it!). She got it in Norway in the '50s, and it's a great piece of vintage kitchen ware that sat on her counter for years and always makes me think of her. It has glass compartments (some are broken now) that I assume were used for sugar, flour, spices, etc. We fill it with M&Ms, almonds, popcorn kernals, tea bags and Emergen-C. Here's a better picture: Madeline616 - do you know how long I've tried to get my dog and cat to pose for pictures? Forget about it. And then they just wander into the photo shoot... I'm glad I got a picture of Zelda, our airedale. She's old now, and she doesn't like having her picture taken. taggie - comments like yours remind me that we did the right thing keeping the old cabinets. Two KDs I talked to, but didn't hire, immediately wanted to rip them out and I couldn't understand why, they were classic, worked fine (I realized later that both KDs work for cabinet makers; I don't know, maybe they all do). And keeping them saved me from making all those thorny layout decisions everyone struggles with here. I really had it easy, but thank you for your compliments. dilly ny - I wish I could take credit for the range hood, but it was the only one that would fit our specs. My ceilings are low and, if you notice, the ceiling above the cooktop is lowered even further (there is an upstairs bath above, but no one seems to know why the ceiling descends seven inches above the cooktop) - it narrowed our options in range hoods to this one - sorry, I should have ID'd it - Electrolux 36". dianalo - you are a better man than I. Actually, I know you aren't a man. I have followed many of your comments on the forum. You always have the best attitude. I have to say - cranky and demanding as I am - one of the things I love about reading GW commenters is how MELLOW you all are. In the midst of hair-curling disasters! How do you do it? I want what you're having! westsider40 - "Something's Gotta Give" was on TV in our area today! I ran in and said to DH (who loves that movie) - there it is! What I've been telling you about! The OTK! I had to explain the whole thing to him. But honestly, that kitchen is so completely SWOON-worthy. The whole house. Diane Keaton's turtlenecks. I wish!!! At least we have our easy-care induction, right? liriodendron - here are some pictures of the built-in drawers. I don't think they're anything special, but I'm sure if I were replacing the the cabs, I would have had to pay quite a bit extra to have a set of drawers like these installed. Helped us decide to keep the cabs we had. We keep container lids in the first drawer, the matching containers in the second, napkins in the third and table cloths in the bottom. Great storage. Keeps everything nice and tidy.

They are 41" wide. I decided on two because I wanted the flexibilty to have them just hang on each side of the window if I got tired of having them pulled to one side. As for what is holding them there....I'm ashamed to admit what I'm using. The salesperson at JCP showed me this cool, inconspicuous hook that is made just for tiebacks. They were out of them and haven't come in yet. I checked Target, BB and Beyond, Home Depot and Lowes but only found those "c" shaped cupholder hooks. I would have needed a pretty big size to hold the tiebacks as the cording is thick. So....I used Command Strips. If you notice them they look terrible, but I just couldn't wait any longer to get the drapes up. To make it worse we only had two large ones so I have two on two of the windows. Don't tell anyone.....

LRy511, since you posted a picture of your beautiful backsplash with the smaller cabinet over the sink and glass shelf, I did a search for your kitchen. Your title picture I had printed since I love the running bond pattern you used which I have decided I am using also. I LOVE your soft white cabinets (love their style, color and hardware), your granite, your beautiful backsplash over your range, your sink set up, your faucet, your 20X 20 beautiful tiles, the way you got the beam out of the way, your wheat-back chairs (I have the same one but mine I think are in a honey maple color now), all the light you have in the kitchen with that bay window and all the ceiling lights, your wall color, the drawer storage, the pantry pull out drawers and your doggie! Thanks again for sharing. You did an amazing renovation that is beautiful as well as more functional.

Really nice! I'm curious, since my kitchen's dimensions are almost the same as yours...are you happy with the aisle widths? I'm mostly concerned with the seating area at the island and the cabinets behind. Does it feel tight? I have 6" less in width and I don't think I can get an island with seating. My 8' run is a beverage center, so that may be ok. How do you get to the point where you say, "that's it!"? :)

Stacey it's beautiful, I especially love the tile with the granite. Colonial gold is one of my favorites. Love the pulls & knobs. Great job, it's just so pretty and livable. Enjoy it in good health for many years! (love the hood, too)

Your kitchen is sooo lovely! The granite especially nice!...love the cabinetry, we have similar taste! Our kitchen is being done in Medallion Venice door in divinity white and our two islands will be in gingersnap.

Enjoy with family and friends for many years to come!!!

Your kitchen is beautiful. I love the colors. It is perfect for the southern MA beach area. I used to live in Hingham and miss it terribly! Hope you enjoy your beautiful kitchen for years to come!....and if you don't feel like cooking The Square Cafe takeout would go great with your kitchen:o).

First time through the pics--oohh that backsplash is beautiful--adds a sparkle to your lovely kitchen. Second time through--that granite is gorgeous with both white and cherry cabinets! (I think I'll have to put that down as one of my favorite stones.) Third time through--the lighted cabinet is exquisite. You did a superb job!! Thank you for sharing it with us. Enjoy!!

Really nice! How do you like the XO brand hood vent? I ordered their insert for my wood hood. Seemed like a good value, but I wasn't able to find many reviews on this brand.

oooo very pretty!! love how the countertops look with the 'honey' cabinets.
I would love to see some of that same wood tone accessories on sink side. Maybe a wood bowl or a wood utensil holder.

Beautiful! Comfortable and homey (in addition to the calm and serene already written over and over!), easy to imagine sitting at your massive island with a cup of coffee. or wine. depending on the time of day.

Lovely! You can tell a lot of attention has been paid to all of the details -- everything goes together perfectly and each element enhances the others -- backsplash, pulls, granite, cabinets -- all are great choices. Enjoy!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I couldn't have done it without constantly reading GW and getting ideas and insight. It's funny that everyone thought it was calm because it just happened to be during a time of day when my kids and husband weren't home. Usually the dog is running through, the kids and their friends are eating and there's a ton of stuff on the counters. If it's calm and serene, I haven't really experienced it yet because of the chaos that's usually going on.

As far at XO hood, we have no complaints at all. It works wonderfully. You will be very happy with your hood insert.

Thank you again everyone however the calmness and serenity probably won't happen until my kids go to college!

That is a beautiful kitchen. I love the granite and had almost picked that one myself. The two islands are beautiful and such a nice use of space. Enjoy!! I know it seems hard to believe it is done.
